Sonya (Stith) Williams began playing the violin at the age of 5 after hearing an orchestra on TV and growing up played piano trios with her two sisters (Felecia, piano and Natalie, cello). She is currently studying with Ilya Kaler (concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra) and Zvi Zeitlin, with whom she also did her undergraduate work at the Eastman School of Music. She graduated with a BM in May 2000.

Hey diddle diddle...
Over the last few years Sonya has attended Music Academy of the West, the Quartet Program, and the National Orchestral Institute during the summers, and spent this July hiking the Appalachian Trail and camping up and down the East Coast of the U.S. and Canada with her husband Matt.
They also live with a small black ball of feline energy named Snuggles, who recently caught her first mouse - twice. Sonya plays a violin by an unknown German maker and is searching for a new bow.
