Angel Food Ministries is a Georgia non-profit corporation which
began
in February 1994 by feeding 34 families. To date, we are feeding well
over 10,000 families per month and is presently active in 8 states
(Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Alabama).
Angel Food Ministries crosses all denominational lines and in the last
2 years has placed over 1000,00 salvation tracts in the boxes of food
distributed. A $20.00 charge is presently made for each box of food
that has an average retail value of over $40.00 The menu consists of
both fresh and frozen items. We have found that one box assists in
a family of four for almost a week, while a senior citizen may consume
the food for a month. Angel Food Ministries participates in the
United States Food Stamp Program and also uses the "OFF
Line Food StampVoucher Program." There is no limit to the number
of boxes you can purchase, and there are no application or qualification.
Since we are a non-profit organization, one can even purchase a box
of food for someone in need and deduct the charge as a charitable
donation.
Here's How it Works
Food orders are taken during the month by a church or host site and the
total number of orders are called in on a predetermined date. The money
for the orders is sent to Angel Food's home office in Monroe, Georgia.
and the ordering church or host site picks up the food from our ware house
to fill the orders on distribution day. In some cases the food can be
derived to the host site. Angel Food Ministries donates $1.00 per box
to the host church's benevolent fund, and if the host church arranges
its own transportation, Angel food donates another $1.00 per box
to cover the church's transportation costs. During the 1998, over
$100.000 was donated to host church.
Distribution day
On distribution day, your church workers come together to perform their
duties, ranging from setting up, filling the boxes, cleaning up or
assisting
disabled and elderly persons in carrying their boxes to their vehicles.
Most host sites do not deliver to the community. Everyone is urged
to pick up their own food.
