American DA Revolver (Saftey Hammer Double Action-This revolver was manufactured from 1883 through 1940 with the total production of about 850,00 revolvers. This is a .32 caliber double action with fluted cylinder. This particular model has mother of pearl grips and was carried by a rancher's wife during cattle drives. This particular model is a variant of the American Double Action and was called the Safety Hammer Double Action, which was patented in 1887. This was yet another of the inexpensive double actions that flooded the mnarket during this period and is of little collector interest other than this revolver came to us by way of a grandson whose grandmother carried it with her on more than several cattle drives, with her husband, for protection.
