this forbids an individual from being arrested and jailed for an unreasonable amount of time without a proper trial or just cause. If one commits a crime, (s)he is entitled to all evidence for use in defense, and be informed about the accusation and to confront the accuser.
bills of attainder

punishes an individual without a proper trial, or punishes that individual's relatives
ex post facto laws

a law that punishes somebody for a crime that was commited before the act was considered a crime.
