A Walk Through the Clouds Finale

* * *

Jen walked into her room after a morning of breakfast. She looked over at the clock. It was still pretty early but she figured Joey would probably be up by now. After seeing Dawson at the movies with Gina she wanted to know what had happened at the Icehouse. She picked up the phone sitting next to her bed and began to dial."Hello?" a woman answered.

"Hey, Bessie, it's Jen. Is Joey around?" she asked politely.

"Sure, just a minute." She said as she called Joey over to the phone. Joey waked into the living room and picked up the phone.

"Hi, Jen, what's up?" she asked.

"Hey, Joey just wanted to see how you were doing?"

"I am cool. Why?" Joey asked/

"Well I also called to see what happened between you and Dawson. No sparks, huh?"

"Why would you ask that?"

"Well, because I saw him at the movies with Gina and I wanted to see what happened with you two at the icehouse?" she asked.

"Nothing. I told him should talk to Gina before discussing anything with me. I guess it worked," Joey said disappointed. After what happened at the ruins, she figured everything would be over between Dawson and Gina.

"Oh," Jen replied.

Joey let out a sigh. Not wanting to talk about Dawson any longer, she told Jen she had to go. Joey hung up the phone and sat at the couch watching some TV show on television. She found herself thinking about Dawson. It bothered her knowing that he was with Gina. But then again she knew she shouldn't let it get to her. As long as Dawson was happy she would have to accept it. That was that.

Dawson woke up this morning with a smile on his face. He couldn't wait to see Joey and work things out between them. He quickly ate his breakfast and got ready to leave.

Ring-Ring.

Dawson ran over to the phone, hoping it wasn't too important. "Hello?" he asked

"Dawson, hey..I am glad I caught you," Jen said.

"Hey, Jen, what's up?" he asked.

"I just wanted to thank you for coming to my grams funeral yesterday."

"You're welcome, Jen. I am just sorry I showed up late. I really wanted to talk to Joey."

"Sorry you missed her. In fact I just got off the phone her a few minutes ago."

"Really?" he asked " 'Cause I need to talk to her. Me and Gina broke up so that's why I want to talk to her...you know about us."

"Wow," Jen said.

"Yeah..so I gotta go. I'll see you later?"

"Yeah..I'll be at the Icehouse later with Pacey if you want to meet us there."

"Okay, bye, Jen."

Dawson hung up the phone, grabbed his wallet and decided to head over to Bessie's. She would most likely be over there since she just finished talking to Jen. He smiled to himself and closed the door behind him.

Jen sat down in the chair. She now felt bad for telling Joey about seeing Dawson at the movies with Gina. She probably got the wrong idea. Anyway, Dawson was going over there now so they would work it out. Jen's thoughts were interrupted when she heard footsteps coming towards her. She quickly got up.

"Relax," Jamie said, "It's just me."

"Oh, hey,"

"Hey," she replied.

"So.." Jen began trying to make conversation "how's it going?"

"I am good," she answered while putting milk in her cereal. "What's with the question anyway, you've never seemed to care before?"

"That's not true, I..I just never asked..I mean we were never close."

"That's true," Jamie said sitting down.

"And," Jen said continuing, "I wanna change that, I want to be your friend..not just someone related to you."

"Why?"

"Because I want to," Jen said with a smile "How about we go to the mall. Just me and you?"

"Umm..okay, that will be great."

"Good," Jen replied.

Dawson finally arrived at Joey's house. He quickly parked his car and went to knock on the door.

"Dawson. What are you doing here?"

"Bessie, hey what's up? Is Joey around?" he asked.

"Sorry, Dawson, you just missed her. I am sure she'll be home soon though," Bessie said.

"Okay. Thanks, Bess. I'll drive around and see if I find her."

"Good luck," she said.

Pacey stepped out of the store with a bag in his hand when he noticed Dawson coming up to him. "Hey, Dawson," he said.

"Hey, Pacey, what's up?"

"Nothing much, just doing some errands before we go to the Icehouse. Oh, before I forget, I invited Joey, too. It'll be all for of us for lunch."

"Wait a minute, you saw Joey? When?"

"Umm... probably about 5 minutes go. We ran into each other at deli than she split."

"Did she tell you where she was going?" Dawson asked.

"Yeah. By the creek to think. I don't think you should bug her though, Dawson. I mean it was hard enough to get her to come to Icehouse."

"Pacey, I just really need to talk to her, okay? I'll see you at the Icehouse later. Bye."

Pacey watched Dawson go. He let out a sigh thinking of what Joey was going to do to him once she found out he told Dawson where she was. He pushed the thought aside and continued on his way.

* * *

Dawson looked over the creek. It was beautiful. Soon he saw who he was looking for. Joey was sitting on the grass staring out into the creek. Dawson slowly made his way over to her. "Hey," he said.

Joey jumped at the sound of a voice. "Dawson, God you scared me," she said, now standing up.

"Sorry," he said.

"Anyway, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"I came to talk to you..about us."

"Us..Dawson there is no us," she said taking a seat on the grass.

"There can be. Me and Gina broke up."

"So?" she asked.

"So..there's a chan--"

"Dawson, there is no chance for us. Not now anyway. I mean you go to Standford and I go to Boston U. They're two different places. It will never work."

"Joey--"

"Dawson, I am sorry. As much as I would love to declare us a couple again, I have to be realistic. Right now there's no chance for us. We're leaving Capeside next week and who knows when we'll see eachother again? I think its better off we stay friends."

Dawson let out a deep sigh. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "If that what you want, I can't change your mind," he said There was and awkward bit of silence. Dawson couldn't believe Joey was saying this to him. He wanted so bad to be with her but he also couldn't help but agree with her. I mean who knew if a long distance relastionship would work. "Jo, you wanna head over to Icehouse? I'll be glad to give you a ride."

"Thanks, but I think I'll stay for a little while longer. I'll see you there," she said standing up. "And thanks for understanding, Dawson," she said giving Dawson a hug.

Dawson hugged her back. He let a sigh and said, "No problem. I'll see you there," he said as they parted.

Joey watched as Dawson drove away. She felt a tear drop from her eyes. She really hoped she was doing the right thing. She continued to look over the creek for a little while longer than headed over to the Icehouse.
