What is a natal chart?

Your "Natal Chart", as its called, can depict who you have the potential to be in your life time from the moment of your birth to your death. I like to think of the natal chart as a circle of life. Some good astrologers can also tell you in some cases who you were in a past life as well.

Technically, a natal chart is an astrology chart that has been calculated for the exact day, time, and place of your birth. What these calculations do is make a circular chart of 360 degrees. The chart is then split up into twelve 30 degree sections, if you can imagine it as kind of like a pie. These pie slices are called houses. The houses (numbered from 1 to 12) are important because they tell an astrologer what areas of life will be influenced by the planet or planets inside a particular house (area of life).

There are three major points to any chart. They are the Sun (your basic personalty), the moon (your emotions or who you are on the inside), and the Ascendant or your rising sign (which is usually how others see you...your face to the world). Its kind of like a trinity of sorts.

Your chart contains all 12 signs of the zodiac. It also includes your sun, moon, ascendant and your other 8 planets. Everyone has the same number of signs, planets, houses, and degrees in their chart. They are just placed differently for each individual.

The planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) also add extra uniqueness to your natal chart. These components make up who you are. Every persons chart is different. The blending of all these different components make you who you are. You are a special and unique person.
