Located 10 miles east of Ft. Smith, Alma is in the foothills of the Ozarks and is the second largest town in Crawford County.(whoop-dee-do!) I-40 goes right through it. Take Exit 13.
It's at the end of the road if your coming down I-540 from Fayetteville and the Boston Mountains. You can see the Poteau Mountains to the south from a top the hill. View pictures from the Alma page, the "Spinach Capitol of the World".
LIVE CHAT in the Alma chatroom! US Highway 71 runs in front of our house. It is infamous for being one of the most deadly stretches of highway in the country, between Alma and Fayetteville, because of the mountainous curves and failure to observe speed limits. US71 has now been designated as a scenic biway! The new I-540 is now open! It has twin tunnels and it cuts in half the driving time to Fayetteville from Alma. |
