                             BH&G Eggnog Bars

     1/2  cup           butter or margarine -- softened
   1      cup           granulated sugar
   1 1/2  teaspoons     brandy or rum flavoring
   2 1/4  cups          all-purpose flour
   1      teaspoon      baking soda
     1/4  teaspoon      ground nutmeg
   1      cup           eggnog
   1      cup           candied cherries -- chopped
     1/2  cup           chopped almonds
     3/4  cup           powdered sugar -- sifted
                        milk -- as needed

Cream first 2 ingredients; blend in 1 teaspoon of flavoring. Stir flour with 
soda, nutmeg and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add alternately with eggnog to creamed 
mixture. Stir in cherries and nuts. Spread in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1" 
baking pan. Bake at 350F for 18 to 20 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, remaining 
1/2 teaspoon flavoring and enough milk (3 to 4 teaspoons) to make mixture 
pourable. Drizzle over warm cookies. Cool; cut into bars.  Makes 48.

                        BH&G Cranberry-Orange Bars

   6      tablespoons   butter or margarine -- softened
     3/4  cup           granulated sugar
     3/4  cup           orange marmalade
   2                    eggs
   1 1/2  cups          all-purpose flour
   1      teaspoon      baking powder
     3/4  teaspoon      salt
   8      ounces        jellied cranberry sauce
   1      cup           powdered sugar -- sifted
   2      tablespoons   butter or margarine -- melted
                        milk -- as needed
     1/4  cup           toasted pecans -- finely chopped

Cream softened butter with granulated sugar. Add marmalade and eggs; mix 
well. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. 
Stir just until moistened. Cut cranberry sauce in 1/4" cubes; reserve 2 
tablespoons. Gently fold remaining cubes into batter. Spread in greased 
13x9x2" baking pan. Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes. Combine powdered 
sugar, melted butter and reserved cranberry; add enough milk (2 to 3 
teaspoons) to make of spreading consistency. Spread over warm cookies; 
top with nuts. Cool; cut into bars. Refrigerate.  Makes 36 bars.

                        BH&G Cream Cheese Pastries

   1      cup           butter or margarine -- softened
   8      ounces        cream cheese -- softened
     1/2  cup           powdered sugar -- sifted
   2      cups          all-purpose flour
     1/4  teaspoon      salt
     1/3  cup           tart red jelly or jam

Cream butter and cream cheese until fluffy; gradually blend in sugar. Stir 
together flour and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Cover; chill dough 
several hours or overnight. Divide dough in thirds. On lightly floured 
surface, roll each portion to 12-1/2x10" rectangles. With fluted pastry 
wheel, cut into 2 1/2" squares. Place a dot of jelly in center of each 
square; bring up two diagonal corners to center, pinching together to seal. 
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375F until firm but not brown, 
about 12 minutes. If desired, sift additional powdered sugar over slightly 
warm pastry cookies.  Makes about 5 dozen.
