How We Began

Postcard: Houston Street from Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TexasEchoes From The Past© was established in the late 70's in our home in San Antonio. We specialized in player pianos and rebuilt and restored them in our kitchen. Then we began to restore Jukeboxes and it was time to leave the kitchen and open a shop.

The first Echoes From The Past© shop was located on North New Braunfels street in San Antonio - down the street from historic Ft Sam Houston - this area of town is called "Rattle Snake Hill". We began to expand our business with antiques and collectibles.

In 1990, Echoes From The Past© moved to it's present location in the old Sol Frank building at 517 East Houston street in downtown San Antonio. We are located across the street from the side entrance of the old Woolworth's building. Woolworth's faces the Alamo and we can see the Alamo from our front door.

This is a postcard from the 1940's showing the view of Houston Street from the Alamo. San Antonio has changed considerably since this postcard was made - but the buildings around the Alamo are still there. Our building is the third one down from the corner on the right.

In 1998 we opened another Antiques and Collectibles shop called The Tourist Trapp© at 307 Alamo Plaza. It is on the way to the River through the Hyatt Hotel across from the Alamo. You go down the steps to go to the river through the Hyatt Hotel. We are at the "start" of the river across from the waterfall.
