New Reaction! - The Diels-Alder Reaction is now ready for viewing. It can be found under Chemical Reactions, at right. For the mechanisms, red and blue have been used to make them easier to understand. Arrows are red; bonds that are affected are blue. The colors have no impact on the structures or mechanisms; they are just there for clarity.

More Pages With Definitions! - Chapter 5: Gas Laws, Pressure Notes, and Chapter 6: Kinetic Theory of Gases have the new definitions feature however Chapter 6: Kinetic Theory of Gases still needs to be finished off. I will be adding a glossary of the terms in alphabetical order in the future.
Just for Fun! What happens to an organic chemistry student during an exam?
What's Ahead For Erik's Chemistry - I've decided for Organic Chemistry notes I will not be using note section as I have with AP Chemistry, but will divide it into several section, mainly nomenclature, properties and reactions. Right now I am working on the Diels-Alder reaction and Friedel-Crafts, SN1, SN2, E1, and E2 reactions will follow it. So Much To Do, So Little Time... - I won't be adding any new AP Chemistry notes until I have most of the existing ones completed with respect to the new definition features. Erik |

New Features! I've begun making small definition pages for vocabulary and common compounds so that when you click on the compound name or vocabulary word, a small popup window will appear with the information. Only a few pages have it right now, but as I expand the selection, most of the pages will have this feature. Right now only Introduction to Chemical Bonding, Chapter 8: Chemical Bonding, Introduction to Organic Chemistry, Bond Angle Table, and Organic Nomenclature Table have some of the key terms and compounds defined.

Another Rendering! I've made a rendering of an anthracene dimer, formed when two anthracene molecule react by a [4 + 4] cycloaddition at the 9,10 position (middle carbons on center ring). The new rendering can be found in the Chemistry Images section.
Addition! Liquids and Solids has new information about unit cells, using the new renderings of the three cubic unit cells. Erik |

Images I have just finished making the unit cell images for an upcoming liquids and solids section. They are renderings of the Simple Cubic, Body-Centered Cubic and Face-Centered Cubic unit cells. These images are on the Chemistry Images page. Humor I've added some more chemistry jokes to the Chemistry Humor section. These new ones deal with chemical structure and naming so you may want to check out Introduction to Organic Chemistry if you don't understand some of the names. What difference could one bond make... The 9,10-dihydroanthracene-9,10- , -succinic acid anhydride images that were put up at 8:45 today had one slight error. One of the benzene rings on the bottom was missing a double bond in its structure. I just finished editing the model and re-rendering the images. The new and correct images are on the Chemistry Images page. I'm sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

More Renderings! On the Chemistry Images page I have added 10 renderings of molecules, anthracene, maleic anhydride and the product of the reaction, 9,10-dihydroanthracene-9,10-,-succinic acid anhydride. These are to help my Organic Chemistry class, as we have just run this reaction and it is hard to write a molecular structure that makes sense. The View 1, View 2, and View 3 images are larger than most and may take longer to load up.

New Section! The first section for Liquids and Solids has been completed it can be found under AP Chemistry Notes on the right. It is called Liquids and Solids. The rendering of ice's structure has also been added to Chemistry Images.
