Someone Else's Shadow

Mission Summary:   The primary mission is to bring down Salla Vacek, a wealthy terrorist broker.  Relative to that, a  mission was put into effect to  recover a business man, David Henderson Williams, who is know to have  ties to Salla Vacek.

Mission Anomalies:

Nikita's continued presence in Michael's mission.

Adversaries:   David Henderson WilliamsMischa Berenz, Salla Vacek

Mission End Game:

David Henderson Williams was retrieved and did deliver the intel necessary to locate Mischa Berenz, a confidante of Vacek's.   However, Vacek was too wary to meet his daughter Elena.  End Game was NOT achieved.

Psychological impact:

Nikita:

Nikita responded very professionally when presented suddenly with the existence Michael's wife and five year old child.  Nikita the champion of the innocents is now in reality ‘the other woman.'  From surveillance in the Samuelle home, it is apparent she was focused.  No extraneous questions, Nikita kept to the script.  When asked to move into the house by Elena, Nikita tried to refuse.

Nikita's maturity in handling with her emotions, while being witness to the loving family atmosphere surrounding Michael and his family, are exemplary.  She was natural and performed well as a "sort of cousin" related to Michael through his step-father.

However, it is already obvious that the conclusion of this mission is already troubling Nikita.  She is showing concern for Michael and his relationship with his son Adam.

Given her propensity for spontaneity in missions and her all encompassing compassion for those she perceives to be innocents, she bears watching.

Michael:

The psychological impact of this mission on Michael is one of many levels:  professional, personal, emotional, and possibly spiritual impacts must be considered.

On an emotional level, it is also apparent that Michael loves his wife and child.  The abrupt end of this mission will separate Michael from them both.  For several years the bond with his wife and child have been his refuge from Section, as Nikita has been his refuge within Section.  By stripping away his wife and child, Michael will be torn.  He already knows this is coming, and the dread is apparent in every look and action.

On a professional and spiritual levels, Michael may come to question the decisions he had made along the way in order to survive in Section.  It is believed by this observer that only Nikita will be able to save Michael from the pain to come.

Michael and Nikita's Bond:

This operation has conversely made the bond between Michael and Nikita stronger.  It is obvious from surveillance in his office that Michael and Nikita are relating on an honest and mature level.  The affection they feel for one another is noticeable in their voices and expressions.  What long term effect this will have on both operatives remains to be seen.  At present, they remain a formidable team.  It is believed by this observer that the Michael/Nikita bond is necessary to their survival as operatives.

Recommendations:

Further steps will be taken to conclude this long-standing. deep-cover mission. Constant surveillance for signs/symptoms of breakdown in either operative.
