July and August 1998 News

8\31 Darren McCarty will wrestle with the Michigan Wrestling Alliance's Big Time Pro Wrestling
at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Troy Sports Center. What a meat head.

8\25 Petr Klima has been invited to try out with the Wings. Some of you may remember him from
the mid 80's.

8\25 6 Red Wings were listed on the Hockey News' top 50 NHLers.

8\22 Only a couple of blurbs on the Red Wing wire. Scotty had successful knee replacement
surgery and it is likely he won't be back behind the bench until late October. Tomas
Holmstrom and Matt Dandenault are close to resigning contracts. Fedorov hired a Advantage as
his new agent. That's all I've heard.

8\21 I heard rumors that Maltby was going to be in Toledo this weekend signing autographs at a
Sears store.

8\17 There hasn't been any news lately except for Scotty taking a cruise to Alaska, and Fedorov
firing his agent, at the same time Anna (the other white meat) did the same. Hmmmm.

7\29 Scotty Bowman's plans for next season are still up in the air, but ESPN is reporting that
he may return, but miss the first few games.

7\29 Slava Fetisov has accepted an Assistant Coaching position with the Devils.

7\23 Slava Fetisov is talking about returning to the Wings with a lesser role, probably a 3rd
line defenseman. Check out the Detroit Free Press for full story.

7\16 Scotty Bowman underwent angioplasty to clear an artery. He is expected to be released
tommarrow.

7\15 Dougie Brown is a Red Wing again. Nashville traded him back for the 1997 3rd round pick
and some future early round picks.

7\14 Bob Rouse has signed a deal with San Jose. It looks like we better sign some defenseman.

7\13 Free Agent defenseman Dmitri Mironov has signed a deal with the Caps.

7\10 Scotty Bowman had a physical today, and passed it. Scotty had said that if the physical
goes well, he'd probably return.

7\9 Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby are in Toledo today for the Jamie Farr golf tourney.

7\9 The 1998-99 schedule was released today with the opener at Toronto on October 10th, and
the banner raising at the home opener October 16th vs. St. Louis.

7\6 The Wings signed defenseman Uwe Krupp, a free agent from Colorado. He has been an All-
Star before and will wear #4.

Where to now?
