John Hawes (see #1478), son of Edmond Hawes and Unk (--?--), in Oct 1661 at Barnstable, MA; Barnstable.1971,1972,1973,1974 Her estate was probated on 7 Mar 1675 at Plymouth, MA; [CI:112:?2:CI]Sons James & John also administrators; Mrs Hinckly,Chipman & Huckins take care estste for young children till they come of age. Inventory L710-4-3. Included dwelling house,barn,upland, meadow,tan vats, a bark mill, and two houses and tools belonging to the tanning. In the division dated Plymouth 7 March, 1677,widow Desire Gorham received her dower thirds. Son James received the dwelling house he now lives in, with the barn and half the upland. Son John Gorham received the vat tanks, bark mill, tools, stock, and the other half of the upland. Son Joseph was given 40n acres of land next to Joseph Halletts land, and some meadow. The rest of the estate was dwevided into five equal parts ampng the rest of the children, who were named Jabez, Mercy, Lydia, Hannah, and Shubael Gorham. Shubael was alloted L50 for the cost of his education, in adition to his share of the estate. Three married daughters, Desire,Temperance and Elizabeth had already received L40 each. If there should be an overage the married daughters were to share equally with the other children except James, the eldest was to receive a double share.1975 She died at Plymouth Colony.1976 Her estate was probated at Plymouth Colony; Inventory was dated 3 August, 1683, more than three months before her death, 13 October, 1683. On 5 MArch, 1684, the assistants of Plymouth Colony, Gov. Hinckley, Major Bradford, Deputy Gov. Mr. Freeman, Mr. Lothrop and Mr. Thacher, "with the mutual concent of the chilodren then appearing" named as James,John, and Joseph Gorham, and with the consent of the sons-in-law, agreed that teh eldest son, James, would receive a double share as was custom, and the rest of the children, namely John, Joseph, Jabez, Shubael, Desire, Temperance, Elizabeth Deseased, Mercy. Lydia, and Hannah should have an equal portion. She died on 30 Jun 1700 at Yarmouth, Barnstable, MA, at age 56.1977,1978
