what is nava?

nava is a style of the short art forms, concieved in Bulgaria in 1990 (by IM). originating from poetry, the style also includes prose, critics, drama (N. mag. 1990 - 1993), music, visual arts, etc.

both denied and admired, the style today is rejected by many, but has thousands of followers in Bulgaria and around the world as well.
some compare it to the Western Minimalism, others to the traditions of the East (hikou). the representatives of the style and its movement respond to this by just saying "nava".

it is about the utterly spontaneous, the way it is expressed in the culture of the crossroad lands.

an image, a sound, an action, inhaled and then exhaled. the roots of the style can be seen even in the ancient Bulgarian stone inscriptions.

the word is derived from the slavonic "navs", "nava nave", "navie", "naviee", "navki" – mythological creatures, depicted as birds.

the nava Academy and its associated nava Art Gallery and Club nava exist since 1995.
