conducted on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Gulfport, Mississippi.
This year the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was held in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The 61st annual Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo will be held July 2nd thru July 5th 2009.

Rodeo Rules (Ages 13 Years or Under)

The following rules applied for ages 13 years or under at the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

 1. Points were awarded for the top three fish in each category each day. Men and women competed separately. King Fisherman and Queen      Fisherette were selected by points entered daily, and overall for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in all 28 categories.

 2. All contestants must have been registered before they entered a fish for prizes. Indiv
idual registration is free.

 3. All competitive fishing began at 12:01am on the first day, and ended at 4pm on the final day. All fish must have been checked by the Weigh      Master before 8pm daily, except by 4pm on the final day.

 4. Contestants may have fished from any port or pier and transported their catches by any means of transportation, but under no circumstances      were frozen, or fish that had been frozen, gutted or mutilated be accepted for entry.
    Fish entered in any other Rodeo or Tournament were not be eligible for Rodeo competition.

 5. All decisions of the Rodeo Rules Committee were final. The condition of all fish, and rules of the Rodeo were entirely subject to their      decision.

 6. Fish entries for prize competition were accepted up until weighing deadline each day. Fish may have been held over from one
     day to the next day if they were late getting to the Weigh Master. Fish held over must have been kept in good condition
     and were subject to Weigh Master inspection.

 7. All fish entered for prize competition remained on public display throughout the day, and all fish entries into the Rodeo became the property      of the Rodeo.

 8. Fresh water fish could have been taken from any rivers, streams, lakes, bayous or ponds. Freshwater fish catches must have been within the Mississippi law limits.

 9. Saltwater fish may have been taken from anywhere in the Mississippi Sound or the Gulf of Mexico.

10. All saltwater and fresh water entries must have complied with the Mississippi State and Federal Regulations.

11. In the event of a tie, the first fish in was declared the winner.

12. In the event of a tie for King Fisherman and Queen Fisherette, the angler with the greatest number of fish was declared the winner.

13.
Participants entered at their own risk. Neither the tournament, nor any person connected with the tournament, could be held liable
for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

Junior Rodeo Rules - (Ages 4 Years to 12)

The following rules applied for the Junior Division of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

  1. All contestants must have been ages 13 years or over. Registration was not required. Both boys and girls were eligible to fish.

  2. Fishing could have been done any place in the Coast area between the hours of 6am to 5pm on the day of the event. Weigh scales were open at the Rice Pavilion from 12 noon to 3pm for this event.

  3. No advance registration was necessary and there was no charge to fish. Contestants must have been accompanied to the scales by a parent or guardian. All contestants must have furnished their own bait and equipment.

  4. Only one place and prize, per category, was allowed.

  5. Eligible salt water fish included Speckled Trout, Redfish, White Trout, Croaker, Ground Mullet, Flounder, Sheephead and Drum. Fresh water categories included Bass, Bream, and Catfish.

  6. Prizes were given for the top five fish in each category and a King Fisherman and Queen Fisherette was determined on a point basis. Five points for 1st place, four points for 2nd place, three points for 3rd place, two points for 4th place, and one point for 5th place.

  7. All decisions of the Weigh Master were final. In the case of a fish of equal weight, the first fish turned in was the winner.

  8. All fish weighted in must have been in accordance with State & Federal regulations 

  9. All fish entered became the property of the Rodeo.

10. All contestants entering a fish received a soft drink and a snack.

11.

The 2005 Special Tournaments Rules


RODEO SPECIAL TOURNAMENTS
 One-day Speckled Trout Shootout Tournament July 4th. 
One-day Redfish Shootout Tournament July 4th.
One-day Cobia Shootout Tournament July 5th.
One-day Bass Shootout Tournament July 5th.


These tournaments were separate from our regular "free entry" Rodeo. Fish entered in these
one-day tournaments were not eligible to be entered in our regular Rodeo nor are they
eligible for prizes. These special tournaments are for cash prizes only.

A special event held on or around the 4th of July each year, sponsored by Budweiser & Rex Distributing Co.
The 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout Tournament will be held from 6am to 6:00pm Friday, July 4th.
Registration for the 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout must be made prior to the Tournament.  
The 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout Tournament Boat Captains Mandatory Meeting will be held
at 5pm to 6pm. Thursday July 3rd, at the Point Cadet Biloxi Sponsor area next to the Stage.
All registrations must be made at the Captains Meeting, July 3rd 2008.

  1. All vessels must have been registered prior to fishing.

  2. The Speckled Trout Tournament had an entry fee of $100 per boat. 1st and 2nd places were paid cash prizes.
     Cash prizes consisted of $350, plus all of the boat registration money for the Speckled Trout Tournament split 60/40%.
     This was aggregate weight, 5 fish limit shootout.

  3. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be on the Rodeo Stage at 9pm on the day of the event.
     Prizes will not awarded prior to the Ceremony. The Captain of the boat will be given the award.

  4. The tournament will begin at 6am and ended at 6pm. Fishermen are on the Honor System.

  5. All fish entered for prize consideration must comply with Mississippi's State Fishing Regulations.

  6. Fish must be in good edible condition and properly iced. Fish must be properly landed. Fish, which appear to have
      been frozen, loaded, harpooned, gaffed, mutilated, shot, and cast or gill netted will be refused.

  7. This is an aggregate weight, 5 fish limit shootout.

  8. All contestants will, in every respect, catch any fish offered for prize consideration in a Sportsmanship Manner,
     obeying all rules and regulations of the Tournament.

  9. Speckled Trout must be at least 14 inches in minimum length.

10. There may be any number of fishermen on the boat, but each boat may turn in only 5 fish for a total aggregate weight.
     All fish turned in become the property of the Rodeo.

11. Fish will be on display in the fish bins, as long as the fish retained a place on the board.

12. Scales close for this tournament at 6pm. Registered fishermen waiting in line in the designated area when the when the scales close,
     will be considered "on time". Weigh-In is at Point Cadet Biloxi under the Big Tent.

13. In case of a tie of equal weight, the first boat that entered fish was declared the winner.

14. All decisions of the Weigh Master will be final.

15. Participants enter at their own risk. Neither the Tournament, nor any person connected with the Tournament,
     shall be held liable for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

16. All entries must be made at the Captains Meeting, 5pm Thursday, July 3rd, at Point Cadet Biloxi,
     in the Sponsor Area next to the Stage.

Anyone found in violation of the tournament rules were disqualified from this and all future tournaments.

General Tournament Rules

    but under no circumstances will frozen or fish that have been frozen (Quick Freeze), harpooned, loaded,
    shot, Except for Shark...improperly gaffed, gutted, cast / gill / shrimp netted, caged, box or slat trapped
     or mutilated be accepted for entry. Fish entered in any other Rodeo or Tournament will not be eligible for Rodeo competition.

 5. All decisions of the Weigh Master will be final. The condition of all fish and rules of the
    Rodeo to ensure sportsmanship is preserved is entirely subject to the Weigh Master’s decision.

 6. Fish entries for prize competition will be accepted up until weighing deadline each day.
    Fish may be held over from one day to the next day if they are late getting to the Weigh Master.
    Fish held over must be kept in good condition and are subject to Weigh Master inspection.

 7. All fish entered for prize competition will remain on public display throughout the day and all fish
     entries into the Rodeo become the property of the Rodeo.

 8. Fresh water fish may be taken from any rivers, streams, lakes, bayous or ponds.

Junior Rodeo Rules - (Ages 4 Years to 12)

The following rules apply for the Junior Division of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

Junior Rodeo Rules - Ages 4 to 12 Years old.

KID'S RODEO

 1. All contestants must be ages 4 to 12. Registration is not required. Both boys and girls are eligible to fish.

 2. Fishing can be done any place in the Coast area Saturday July 5th between the hours of 6am to 3pm on the day of the event.

 3. Weigh scales will be open at Point Cadet Biloxi under the big tent from 12 noon to 3 pm for this event.

 4. Contestants must be accompanied to the scales by parent or guardian. All contestants must furnish their own bait and equipment.

 5. Only one place and prize per category will be allowed.

 6. Eligible Salt water fish will include Speckled Trout, Redfish, White Trout, Croaker, Ground Mullet, Flounder,

The 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout Tournament will be held from 6am to 6pm Friday, July 4th.
Registration for the 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout must be made prior to the Tournament.
The 2008 Speckled Trout Shootout Tournament Boat Captains Meeting is a Mandatory Meeting
and will be from 5pm to 6pm Thursday July 3rd, at the Point Cadet Biloxi Sponsor area next to the stage.
All registrations must be made at the Captains Meeting, July 3rd 2008.

  1. All vessels must be registered prior to fishing. See above for Registration and Boat Captains Meeting information.

     Cash prizes consist of $350, plus all of the boat registration money for the Speckled Trout Tournament split 60/40%.

  6. Fish must be in good edible condition and properly iced. Fish must be properly landed.

  7. This is an aggregate weight, 5 fish limit shootout.

  8. All contestants will, in every respect, catch any fish offered for prize consideration in a
      sportsmanship manner, obeying all rules and regulations of the tournament.

  9. Speckled Trout must be at least 14 inches in minimum length.

10. There may be any number of fishermen on the boat, but each boat may turn in only 5 fish for a total aggregate weight.
      All persons fishing on the boat must be listed on the Shoot-out registration form.
      All fish turned in become the property of the Rodeo.

11. Fish will be kept on display in the fish bins, as long as the fish retains a place on the board.

12. Scales close for this tournament at 6pm. Registered fishermen waiting in line in the designated area when the
      scales close will be considered "on time". Weigh-in is at the Point Cadet Biloxi under the big tent .

13. In case of a tie of equal weight, the first boat that enters fish will be declared the winner.

14. All decisions of the Weigh Master will be final.

15. Participants enter at their own risk. Neither the tournament, nor any person connected with the tournament,
      shall be liable for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

16. All entries must be made at the Captains Meeting, 5pm Thursday, July 3rd, at Point Cadet, Biloxi
      in the Sponsor Area next to the stage.

The 2008 Redfish Shootout Tournament Rules

A special event held on or around the 4th of July each year.


 The 2008 Redfish Shootout Tournament will be held from 6am to 6:00pm Friday July 4th.
 Registration for the 2008 Redfish Shootout must be made prior to the Tournament.

 The 2008 Redfish Shootout Tournament Boat Captains Meeting is Mandantory, and will be held from
 5pm to 6pm Thursday July 3rd, at Point Cadet Biloxi Sponsor Area next to the Stage.

 All registrations must be made at the Captains Meeting, July 3rd, 2008.

 1. All vessels must be registered prior to fishing. See above for Registration and Boat Captains Meeting information.

 2. The Redfish Tournament has an entry fee of $100 per boat. 1st and 2nd places will be paid cash prizes.
    Cash prizes consist of $350, plus all of the boat registration money for the Redfish Tournament split 60/40%.
     Each boat may turn in three fish that will be weighed together for a total aggregate weight.
     This is a slot tournament and fish must fall between 18-27 inches...pinched tail method of measurement.

 3. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be awarded on the Rodeo Stage at 9pm on the day of the event.

 4. Prizes will not be awarded prior to the ceremony. The Captain of the boat will be given the award.

 5. The tournament will begin at 6 am and end at 6 pm. Fishermen are on the Honor System.

 6. All fish entered for prize consideration must comply with Mississippi State Fishing Regulations and Federal regulations.

 7. Fish must be in good edible condition and properly iced. Fish must be properly landed.
     Fish that appear to have been frozen, loaded, harpooned, gaffed, mutilated, shot or cast/shrimp netted will be refused.

 8. In the event of equal weights, the first fish entered will be the tiebreaker and declared the winner.
     All contestants will, in every respect, catch any fish offered for prize consideration in a Sportsmanship manner,
     obeying all rules and regulations of the Tournament.

  9. Redfish must be at least 18 to 27 inches in length. N0te!!! Redfish’s tail “Will Be Pinched” for measurement and
      must not be under the 18 inch line or exceed the 27 inch line! Fish that appear to be under or over the slot measurement
      may be flipped and re-measured 3 times ONLY. If fish still fails to fall within the required slot measurement,
      the undersize or oversize fish will be disqualified.

10. There may be any number of fishermen on the boat, but all persons fishing on the boat must be listed on the
      Shoot-out registration form. The fish turned in become the property of the Rodeo.

11. Fish will be kept on display in the fish bins, as long as the fish retains a place on the board.

12. Scales close for this tournament at 6pm. Registered fishermen waiting in line in the designated area when
      the scales close will be considered "on time". Weigh-in is at tPoint Cadet Biloxi under the big tent .

13. All decisions of the Weigh Master will be final.

14. Participants enter at their own risk. Neither the tournament, nor any person connected with the tournament,
      shall be liable for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

15. All entries must be made at the Captains Meeting, at 5pm, Thursday July 3rd at Point Cadet Biloxi
      in the Sponsor Area next to the Stage.

The 2008 Cobia Shootout Tournament Rules

A special event held on or around the 4th of July each year, sponsored by Budweiser & Rex Distributing Co.
The 2008 Cobia Shootout Tournament will be held from 6am to 6pm. Saturday, July 5th.
Registration for the 2008 Cobia Shootout must be made at the Captains meeting.
The 2008 Cobia Shootout Tournament Boat Captains Meeting is Mandatory and will start at 5pm to 6pm.
All registrations must be made at the Captains Meeting, July 3rd 2008.
All vessels must be registered prior to fishing. See above for Registration and Boat Captains Meeting information.

 1. The Cobia Tournament has an entry fee of $150 per boat. 1st and 2nd places will be paid cash prizes.

2. Cash prizes consist of $400 plus all of the boat registration money for the Cobia tournament split 60/40%.

 3. Each boat may turn in only 2 fish, whose weights will be added together for a total aggregate weight.

 4. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be awarded on the Rodeo Stage at 9pm on the day of the event.

 5. Prizes will not be awarded prior to the ceremony. The Captain of the boat will be given the award.

 6. The tournament will begin at 6am and end at 6pm. Fishermen are on the Honor System.

 7. At no time may competing boats come together except in case of emergency.

 8. Fisherman may be subject to a polygraph test if Weigh Master or Rules Committee deem it necessary,
    due to suspicion of rules infractions or cheating, to insure sportsmanship of this tournament is preserved.

 9. All fish entered for prize consideration must comply with Mississippi’s State Fishing Regulations.

10. Fish must be in good edible condition and properly iced. Fish must be properly gaffed.
      Fish, which appear to have been frozen, loaded, harpooned, mutilated, shot with gun or bow, or shrimp/cast netted, will be refused.

11. In the event of a tie of equal weights, the first fish entered will be declared the winner.

12. All contestants will, in every respect, catch any fish offered for prize consideration in a Sportsmanship manner,
     obeying all rules and regulations of the Tournament.

13. There may be any number of fishermen on the boat, but all persons fishing on the boat must be listed on
      the Shoot-out registration form.

14. Fish will be kept on display in the fish bins, as long as the fish retains a place on the board.
     The Weigh Master will return one of the fish, and the other becomes the property of the Rodeo.

15. Scales close for this tournament at 6p.m. Registered fishermen waiting in line in the designated area
      when the scales close will be considered "on time". Weigh-in is at Point Cadet Biloxi under the big tent.

16. All decisions of the Weigh Master are final.

17. Participants enter at their own risk. Neither the Tournament, nor any person connected with the Tournament,
     shall be liable for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

18. All entries must be made at the Captains Meeting, 5pm Thursday July 3rd at Point Cadet Biloxi in the Sponsor Area next to the stage.

Anyone found in violation of the tournament rules were disqualified from this and all future tournaments.

The 2008 Bass Shootout Tournament Rules

A special event held on or around the 4th of July each year, sponsored by Budweiser & Rex Distributing Co.
The 2008 Bass Shootout Tournament will be held from 6am to 3pm Sunday July 6th, 2008.
Registration for the 2008 Bass Shootout must be made at the Captains meeting July 3rd 2008.
The 2008 Bass Registration must be made at 5pm Thursday July 3rd at the Point Cadet Biloxi Sponsor Area next to the stage.
All registrations must be made at the Captains Meeting, July 3rd 2008.

 1. All fishermen must be registered prior to fishing. See above for Registration and Boat Captains Meeting information.

 2. Entry fee for this tournament is $50 per fisherman. 1st and 2nd places will be paid cash prizes.
     Cash prizes consist of $250 plus all of the fisherman registration money for the Bass Tournament split 60/40%.
     Each fisherman may enter 5 fish and all will be weighed together for a total aggregate weight.

 3. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be awarded on the Rodeo Stage at 6pm on the day of the event.
     Prizes will not be awarded prior to the ceremony. The winning fishermen will be given the awards.

 4. The tournament will begin at 6am and end at 3pm. Fishermen are on the Honor System, and in the spirit of fair competition
     we expect everyone to comply with this starting time.

 5. All fish entered for prize consideration must comply with the Mississippi’s State Fishing Regulations.

 6. Fish must be in good edible condition and properly iced. Fish must be properly hooked and landed.
     Fish, which appear to have been frozen, loaded, harpooned, mutilated, snagged, cast netted, caged or shot, will be refused.

 7. In the event of equal weights, the fish entered first will be the tiebreaker.

 8. All contestants will, in every respect, catch any fish offered for prize consideration in a sportsmanship manner,
     obeying all rules and regulations of the tournament.

 9. Bass must meet the current minimum or maximum State regulations for total length if applicable.

10. Each fisherman may turn in 5 fish. Entered fish become the property of the Rodeo.

11. Fish will be kept on display in the fish bins, as long as the fish retains a place on the board.

12. Scales close for this tournament at 3p.m. Registered fishermen waiting in line in the designated area when the scales close
      will be considered "on time". Weigh-in is at Point Cadet Biloxi under the big tent.

13. All decisions of the Weigh Master are final.

14. Participants enter at their own risk. Neither the tournament, nor any person connected with the tournament,
      shall be liable for any loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury to anyone for any reason.

15. All entries must be made at the Captains Meeting, 5:00 p.m. Thursday July 3rd at the Point Cadet Biloxi
      in the Sponsor area next to the stage.

Anyone found in violation of the tournament rules may be disqualified from this and all future tournaments.
