INFO- what is going on here?

Introduction....

Welcome to SK SYSTEMS. If you've been here before you may notice that there have been changes- I'm basically in the middle of a huge site re-design as I've been lazy and haven't bothered updating this place in line with my growing comprehension of web design. All the old features are still here, and I hope to expand them in the near future, possibly using Macromedia's Flash, a fantastic web animation and interactivity tool I've been experimenting with recently. THE WARLOCK is still there to tell your fortunes, if you've got a version 4 browser, although don't take him too seriously. Someone out there was under the impression that he was a serious occult tool, which I found highly amusing. There are new sections to contend with this time round, Synths and Web Design. Both these sections are empty at present, but I'll be developing them soon.

What is SK SYSTEMS?

Ok, I'll come clean. SK SYSTEMS is basically myself, Ed Grace, student, graphic/web designer, musician, DJ and general creative type. SK SYSTEMS is the umbrella name I use for all of these projects. It's my brand name, if you like.

Why SK SYSTEMS?

Er.... good question. Why not? The name itself was derived from an abbreviation for my old DJ name/tag, which was the cringeworthy SKIZM. This site was originally called DJ Skizm's Techno Asylum.... things change :). The alien up at the top there is a throwback to my original logo, which was based around a similar but far less sophisticated image. SK is also an abbreviation of various things which are significant in my life, such as being SKint, Sound Konstruction, SKratching, Spelling Korrectly &c.

Why bother?

Because I have creative impulses which are easily channeled into this kind of multi-disciplinary project. I love music, I love writing, I love producing artwork, I love designing, and I love staying up all night hand-writing html. No, I really do. Honest.

And now some things I like... (in no order)

Dub reggae, hip-hop, good techno/house, soul, funk, good noises. Computers. The web (or at least the good bits). Lee Scratch Perry, Burning Spear, The Melodians, Max Romeo, Lou Reed, Hammond organs, my girlfriend, my friends, my family (and other such sickening drivel). The Creator, without whom none of these things would exist anyway.

And the inevitable things I don't like...

I doubt anyone is reading this far, but anyway... Dodgy commercial rap, eg Jay-Zee's execrable 'Hard Knock Life' and similar offerings. Bad Websites. Bad graphic design. People who can't design well or even produce something which is easy on the eye getting a lot of money off other people to design websites. People not respecting other people. Backstabbing, infighting, bitching, idiots, pugnacious creatures, crashing scooters, getting drunk and doing really stupid things. The 256-colour safe palette, people with ancient versions of Internet Explorer running on their machines. Running out of money, the sinking feeling of terror I get as I approach cash machines, the complexity of human nature and the fact that you don't get a manual for your brain and emotions when you're born. And finally, SPAM EMAIL advertising stuff I wouldn't be able to get, even if I wanted it, because I live in the UK and not the States...
