The Dreams Come True Greatest Hits album: 'The Soul' came out a while ago, following their 1999 album 'The Monster'. By now I have reviewed all of their albums and have listened to the best of their songs (by my estimation) innumerable times, and I have some additional comments to make: Dreams has been busy touring, in 1998, they did America, and Vancouver, to sold out audiences I am told. They cut two extended play singles the DCT hit 'Snowdance' and another Funk the Peanuts single 'You go girl!' at the end of 1999/beginning of 2000 season. But between that, they have been on a massive Japanese tour with their Wonderland '99 production which has resulted in an as-yet unreviewed two video collection of their best songs. Very pricey! And not being rented. -- All of which is to say that they have been so busy that it has created the effect of their artistry slowing down. But, we will wait and see on that.
I was expecting to be bowled over on the album following 'Sing or Die' and when I wasn't I assumed that like Dylan and Bowie, I was just behind. So I waited. And their are actually many good songs on 'The Monster'. Some strange, but not un-Miwa-like, thoughts too! However, after all of this, the song that wasn't a big hit in Japan, the song that didn't make it on their GH list, is still my favourite, and it is 'PEACE!' And 'Sing or Die' is still their most creative effort.
So without further adieu, (and noting that extra lines have been added to facilitate understanding, with as close to the original text at top, romaji, direct translation, and finally Miwa's 'WorldWide' version) here is

True peace comes from the one who gives us our existence.. Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us 'come to me' "My yoke is easy and my burden light". And, "peace i give you, my own peace I give you, a peace that the world cannot give, this is my gift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid." In the 1970's, DJ-come-comedian George Carlin, "the hippy-dippy weatherman" of Rowan and Martin's Laugh In fame, joked about our dependance on "stuff", that is our material possessions. Want a great weight to keep us from our happiness, well that's the ticket! Jesus said "Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and termites can destroy them and thieves can break in and steal." He told us something very profound then. He said "Wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be too!" So where do you want your heart to be? Even if we resolve to do away with our bad habits, unless we replace that void with something substantial, they will come rushing back to us more than seven times stronger. See Jesus' discourse on the unclean spirit in Matthew 12:43-45. Considering New Year's resolutions, and their aftermaths in binging, this rings very true. So to whom should we go to be content? As I've said - to Jesus, The King of Kings, Repeating Matthew 11:28 and 29: "Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
