OUT OF SPACE?
If you are like most of us, using WEBTV, you soon find yourself, running out of storage room in your PRIMARY user space. E-mail is overflowing, your Favs files are bulging! This is easily remedied. Each WEBTV unit is allowed a maximum of six (6) users at no extra cost. One (1) PRIMARY user and five (5) SECONDARY users. These user spaces may be divided among a family, friends or used by one individual. If you have not taken advantage of these extra user spaces, now is the time! All that is necessary, is to make up another user name, contact WEBTV and add that user, up to a total of six users. This gives each unit a total of six of everything. Six E-mail addresses, six mail storage areas, six Scrapbooks, six Page Builders, and six Favorites Files.Thus, there is an enormous amount of storage and workable space to be utilized by those with a bit of imagination! For instance, you might designate one E-mail space to use strictly for writing friends and others as work areas< to write notes or make documents to be used on web pages, in otherwords, private areas
undisturbed by incoming mail. You could use the Page Builder areas of each user space for Web pages of unrelated topics, of interest to you, or each may be linked to the others. to create one large site. You can also use Scrapbook areas as storage for photos, images, etc and Page Builder as storage areas for E-mails that you wish to save. (See the following tutorial.)
NOTE: Be sure that you do not publish these storage areas or everyone will be reading your private mail!
With several FAVS files, you can make each set of files for specific subjects. I have my files set up so that;
1. One (My Primary space) is an area for writing and receiving mail to and from friends. I use the FAVS in this user space for reference works, storage of pages often sent, recipes, any info I might wish to get quickly.
2. Two areas are for subjects dealing with the internet, (codes, tutorials for my use, tutorials I am writing, items for my web page, color charts, music, etc.), These are my work areas.
3. One is for arts and crafts information, my notes and E-mail dealing with these subjects.
4. One is all Science subjects. Again my notes, E-mail and pages dealing with Science material of interest.
5. The last is materials to be sorted and used later, but that are in storage for the time being. I can go to each area and have info. available reasonably quickly, but you must keep things organized in order to make use of this amount of info efficiently! If you can't find it, it is of NO value to you.
A good habit is to go through every month or so and clean out what is no longer of use or value to you. This also keeps you
in tune with what you have and where you have it.
So you want to dress up that plain e-mail page? There are two methods you may use, Method A. is quick and easy, Method B. is more difficult, but allows more creativity in your signature.
Method A. You should find everything you need on this F-Key Saver. Junkyard's Sig Maker is easy to use. It asks questions and you type in the answers, when the form is completed, it will write you a code to CCP and place in your Sig box. The next two buttons are color charts and the next four are image and background sources, and the last two buttons are music sites. 1. Go to your mail page, above your list of mail you will see the word SETTINGS. Place your cursor on the SETTINGS option. 2. Click the Return key. This will open a page which has your mail options on it. 3. Find and click on SIGNATURE. 4 A page will appear, titled Mail Signature. You will see a box with the cursor blinking within it. This is the Sig Box. This box will contain the codes which determine what appears on your e-mail page. 5. If you have used this box before, you must erase everything within this box to avoid problems. To erase the contents of this box, click on delete several times. 6. Now you are ready to write your new code into the Top left corner of the Sig Box. Remember, even one blank space or a character before the <HTML> symbol will confuse the computers and cause you problems 7. The FIRST word of html code is ALWAYS <html> This informs the computers that the instructions are in the form of Hyper-Text Markup Language--the infamous HTML! 8. Write: <html><body
bgcolor="????"text="????"> 9.At this point, you must replace the question marks above with your choice of colors. You may use either written names such as white, blue, red, etc., or you may use Hexidecimal code, (Numbers and/or letters). Method B. Follow these simple directions to learn to write your own sigs. (This will allow more flexibility in your sig.)
Note: If you use the Hex. codes, it is wise to include the pound (#) sign, after the 1st. quotation marks and before the Hex code. Otherwise, some browsers can't read the code. The Hex code for White would be "#FFFFFF" and Black is "#000000"
You will find Color Charts, Gifs, Music and Tutorials for their use at sites in the F-Key Saver above. 10. Once you get the colors into your line of code, you may add code for gifs, URLs or anything you wish to appear on your e-mail page. Remember, anything you add to the page increases the loading time. 11. Now you are ready to complete Your line of basic code. We do this by reversing the order of the code words and adding a slash (/) which tells the computers to stop reading the codes: </body></html> 12. Your line of code should now read as follows:
<html><body bgcolor="white"text="black"><Any additional gif codes etc., go in here></body></html>
In order to add music, wavs or midis to your e-mail you must have a website to store them, you can't store music files in your WebTV scrapbook and linking to music or images on other websites is frowned upon. An explanation as to why will be found here.
1. Go to MAIL LIST,
2. Click on SETTINGS on the left menu.
3. then to SIGNATURE, and copy the following html code between the <Body> and </Body> symbols of your sig box code.<;embed
src="URL of song you wish to play on your page"autostart="true"loop="infinite">
You must place <embed in front of src with one blank space between them and an >(angle Bracket) after "infinite."
4. Click DONE. If you have a problem, it may involve either the URL for the midi or the HTML format.
Remember to Transload the music to ypur Page Builder or Web site so you don't lose it, or to link only where you have permission to link.

This is a generic or basic address and must be changed for each new scrap book file made. You can learn to read or break this address code into it's various components making it easy to
