College

Before I delve into my college life, I must affirm that I have not at any point in my life thus far come across a group of as intelligent, as sensitive and as fun-loving people as I came across at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum. The students of my alma mater are perhaps the most down to earth people you'd ever meet, people who always say what they mean....people who you'd be glad to be assosciated with , people who'd make your life more enriching, more meaningful, everyday!!!

Well...I joined *THE* college in 1992 and perhaps had the most harrowing of ragging, partly because I didn't speak the native language all that well, which in itself acted as a stimulus to my seniors to rag me more. It was during that time that I befriended lots of crazy guys like Godfrey, "Screw" George who would be classified as what you'd call bad company. But C batch was fun, 100% pure masti, with jokes being cracked all around the class in plenty. With very serious teachers like one Mr Potti who thought he was running a kindergarden and never lost an opportunity to scold somebody.....Anyway C batch came to an end like it had begun, with a bang. Lots of friends parted, and I cared less....

The rest of the college life was actually little droplets of fun and frolic, about which I can write but little.....Few friends who I got pretty close with, guys like Girish, Ranjit, Arun SN, Harish MV, Delvis, John, Biju, JK et al....almost all of whom held quite strong convictions about me.....almost all of whom were unanimous in their acceptance of me as a spoilsport, as a trouble maker par excellence. I guess they were right to a great extent, I was touchy about issues I should have rather passed over, I glossed over matters which seem oh so trivial in hindsight....

And as a class, I guess we were a bunch of people sitting in the class because it couldn't have been any different. We cared less and less about each other as the days went by, talking usually to nobody in particular and letting things be.....That however, did help in us realising an almost absolute detachment in everything and from everybody, helped us in being totally focussed towards self, in becoming extremely selfish.

However, as individuals I personally feel that most of us have some regret at the way things turned out to be, because they could have been far different. But perhaps, the effort was lacking.......

A roll call of honour of THE class of 96 would not be out of order, and I present it below.....Feel free to mail me if you have any modifications, and yes, don't forget to join the APPLIED MAILING LIST!!...Also, please don't forget to sign my guestbook...............and before we part....Tara tara ta ta ta ta....eah uah CET!!!
