I myself was a student at the Mayo
School, under the tuition of senior tutor, "Christine Ramsdale" from
1983 to 1988 approx. and was awarded my diploma after successfully
completing the advanced course on astrology, and passing the diploma
exams, in the autumn of 1988.
I feel a personal link to Jeff Mayo
in several ways, one being the signed copy of his book 'Teach
Yourself Astrology' which I obtained in 1982/83ish. and apart from
the years of study at the Mayo School, my tutor, Christine Ramsdale,
who patiently brought me through those difficult initial steps, began
her astrological studies with Jeff as her personal tutor in the
second half of the 'Sixties'. At that time, Jeff Mayo was the Head
Tutor and Principal of the "Faculty of Astrological Studies", before
leaving to form the "Mayo School" in 1973.

Below are a few excerpts
from my notes which I normally include somewhere within the general
text of any written
astrological analysis, if
they are applicable, of course.
Many people want astrologers or
counsellors to give them a direct and precise list of
instructions to follow that would
lead them out of wherever they have found themselves.
Or, even better, to be told exactly
what is going to happen at an exact future date or
period in time, regardless of how
they lead thier life in the space between! What they
are avoiding is responsibility for
thier own life, happiness, misery, and responsibility for
the outcome of thier decisions. They
don't really want to commit themselves to anything.
For an astrologer to even try to do
this would be bad counselling; the master or guru
never gives a set of definite
instructions that map the individual's actions and life out
unquestionably ---- your 'boss' does
that kind of thing!! and you probably don't thank him
or her for that!!
I have even known quite a few people
who constantly complained about the difficulties
they had to submit to, the heavy,
unhappy life they had to cope with, and how there just
didn't seem to be a way out. Quite
often these people refused or made an excuse to reject
any offer of help or suggestion for
an escape plan. They actually enjoyed wallowing in
their misery! took no responsibility
for achieving thier own happiness ! and were terrified
if you tried to suggest a good,
solid plan which would elivate them from their misery! for
then they would have nothing to
complain about and they would have to try to be happy!!
God, what a responsibility! it would
kill them!!! At thier present state they can be
miserable without having to be
responsible for thier misery, it's always someone else's
fault, isn't it ? Life's too short,
but still, that is thier choice and they are entitled to that,
that's how they excercise thier own
'free will'.
What you must do is understand and
be clear of your starting position, which is not only
a point on the map, but also a point
in your psyche: your state of mind, together with the
collective wisdom, knowledge and
experiences over the years. And from the given
information, plan your next move.
The decision making in itself is therapeutic, and the
'lift' experienced if the results
are good helps the individual's self-esteem, and this is one
of the most efficient ways of
becoming 'Whole' again.

Remember to synthesize and temper
any analysis' that share the same 'Timespace'.
Lets say for instance; if the Moon
was conjunct Mars in January 1997, then you found
that Saturn was transiting your 7th
house in January also, and even a 3rd transit of, lets
say; Jupiter aligns with your 3rd
house cusp also in January, then you should read and
keep all three factors in mind to
give you a more balanced or more comprehensive
understanding of that
'Timeslice'.

After enduring/living throughout the
periods of intense Pluto transits you will in many ways
be a new person, with new hope and
new potentials. The encounters that have led to your
transformation may not have been
always pleasant, but they will have been part of a
pattern that has existed in this
point of your life cycle, in time and space, from the
moment of your birth. This is not a
statement intended to suggest that all the events that
occur in your life are "Fated" and
totally unavoidable:- it is like the idea or analogy I
once heard, of the picture on the
seed packet of a "beautiful Lettuce, fully grown and
perfect, not a blemish or slug in
sight". That is the possible outcome of that particular
life-cycle, but without water or
planted in unfertile soil etc, it is unlikely to attain it's
full
potential and growth! Also, while I
was at college studying psychology I learned a bit
about about genetics. Our genes are
like little time-capsules, sitting within waiting for a
specific moment in time to throw
thier own particular switches: for instance, there is a
gene who's job it is to 'click' it's
personal little switch, at that specific, preordained
moment in time for that particular
child, which sets in motion the mechanism that begins
the growth of teeth. That particular
gene has been waiting since conception to do it's job,
at a specific point in the future of
that life-cycle. However, the ultimate success of the
growth from that point on is out of
the Gene's hands. (ok. so they probably don't have
hands - but who knows???) It is from
that point onwards that YOU have to choose whether
or not you keep those teeth clean
and healthy!
