The Treasure Hunters Society of Santa Clara Valley (THSSCV) was founded in April of the bicentennial year 1976 by the combined efforts of two dedicated and knowledgeable treasure hunters, Dave Hayslip of Los Gatos, California and Grover Ingram of San Jose, California. The club is home based in the beautiful "Valley of Hearts Delight", now widely known as "Silicon Valley". The members come from around the surrounding areas and cities. Some come from Sacramento, Modesto, Stockton, as well as closer. Over the years we have grown from a small informal group into a larger family oriented social and recreational club. Our members represent a very diverse group, with interests ranging from metal detecting, coin shooting, prospecting for gold, bottle digging, historical research to assisting archaeologists and Law enforcement. The club has several subcommittees and volunteer groups. Our club members have helped the public in finding lost jewelry and other metallic items. We have, and maintain a very large club volunteer group to assist local Law enforcement in their efforts in searching for metallic evidence at crime scenes. On several occasions throughout the years we have in fact located key evidence that brought a successful convicton of a suspect. The Law agencies have come to realize that our club is a valuable resource to them as an investigative tool.
Meetings are currently being held at the Napredak Hall, 770 Montague Expressway, San Jose, CA. Meetings are held every second Thursday of the month at 7:30 P.M. Meeting activities may include Show and Tell, door prizes, demonstrations of equipment, guest speakers and exhibits. Other club activities include field trips, planted hunts, collecting and prospecting trips.
The THSSCV is a non-profit organization governed by a constitution and by-laws. We currently support the San Jose Historical Society. Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to join and participate in our activities.
