Canadian Oil Companies Limited enjoyed the reputation they had earned and were pleased to say thanks to their customers and friends. The photo above shows three styles of the promotional paper hats they gave away. The first was given out in 1952 to promote the "NEW" White Rose Motor Oil Heavy Duty The ' visor ' of this hat promoted the contest they ran offering $10,000 in cash prizes. The contest was for a slogan for their "new" motor oil. The contest was announced April 15 , 1952 and officially closed at midnight , June 14th 1952 . Contest blanks and information folders were available at any White Rose service station or dealer. Over 60.000 pounds of White Rose Hats were distributed by White Rose Dealers immediately following "C" day , as it was known. This stood for "Campaign' day and was billed as "the greatest Advertising and Sales Promotion campaign in White Rose history". * A few N.O.S. hats of this style are available for sale * If interested email me at wpf@mnsi.net

As soon as this contest ended a new run of similar hats were distributed, but the contest offer on the visor was replaced with "New"

The second hat in the photo above promoted ''The All Canadian Company'' and featured two Canadian Red Ensign flags and the new 'wedge' logo . This logo would date this hat after 1953.

The last style of hat in the picture was a promotion of White Rose Ultra Gasoline with the the slogan "Canada's Highest Octane " This slogan originated in 1955 .
