Lesson #2g: The Wiccan Sabbat, Samhain

Samhain is usually one of the highlights of the Wiccan Calendar which takes place on October 31 in the Northern Hemisphere and around April 30 through May 1 in the Southern Hemisphere. Often some of the biggest Wiccan gatherings are performed during this time. It is a time to reflect and remember all those who have passed from this life to the next. It is a good time to think on the time you have shared with a loved one who has left this life. Think of all the good things you have done together. It is also a time to burn away things that are troubling you.

I also want you to research and find anything you can about Samhain. Find things like special traditions, foods, and folklore surrounding Samhain. Anything you would like to tell me about how you personally celebrate too would be good also. I also suggest that you celebrate Samhain in some manner. It can be an elaborate ritual or a very simple communing with the Deities type of rite. It is your walk, do it as it feels right for you. You also have a special opportunity to offer a tribute to a loved one who has passed on to the next life. We started this in Samhain 2000 and will continue to add to it. Use the links below to add your tribute and view other member's tributes.

Brightest Blessings,

Arianna

You will find the sample ritual on My Personal Wicca Site. Study my ritual but I also want you to study many other sources. You should never take one point of view to follow. Find what's right for you. Enjoy your assignments.
