The main topic of conversation at the moment seems to be centred around what the people of America think. This is a pathetic and pointless because unless 100 million Middle Americans march on Capitol Hill there is little they can do.
The focus should be on, instead, the power brokers of Congress and the Senate. These people hold the fate of Clinton in their hands, and at the moment it seems only a decisive action on his part can avert the imminent impeachment.
War in the East
If Clinton can turn the attention of these dissatisfied Democrats and blood-hungry Republicans he may have yet won the war. To do this he has a range of options. The most obvious of these is to start a small, far-off war. This would be the most attractive option but he shot his load early by hitting the Sudanese factory. As Monica Lewinsky would testify; he's rarely guilty of that.
A second option would be to start a new trail of evidence that implicates an even bigger celebrity in a series of sex scandals. This would ideally be a person of considerable standing with the respect of everyone in the States. Sadly for Bill, no such person exists in America today.
A third, and risky, way out is to fake his own death and retire to a small hut in the Deep South. After a few years he could resurface and take back power by a military coup.
All the above options are undesirable for various reasons so all that he has left to do is start a programme of serious reform. This would start with his vasectomy and continue with a day's community service painting old people's houses once a week until the end of his term in Office.
