The Oakland Raiders have
played in some of the NFL's most
memorable games and have
had some of the leagues most outrageous
characters, but no one can
argue about the success the team enjoyed
for nearly three decades.
From 1969 until 1997 The Raiders were
the only original American Football League
team to have won a Super
Bowl title. During a 29 year span, the Raiders
won 278 league games tied
11 and lost 137. The Raiders winning percentage during
that 29 year span was.670
percent.
Since 1967 the Raiders went
to the playoffs 17 times, played
in 12 Championship games,
won or shared 14 Division Championships
and won the American Football
League Championship, four American
Conference Championships
and three World Championships.
Marcus Allen, Al Davis, Fred Biletnikoff,
George Blanda, Willie Brown, Dave Casper, Mike Haynes, Ted Hendricks,
Howie Long, Jim Otto, Art Shell and
Gene Upshaw have been enshrined into the Pro Football
Hall of Fame which is a
testament to the great players that have played for the
Silver and Black throughout
the years.
The past has been glorious
for the Raiders and the future looks bright
with the hiring of
new head coach Bill Callahan. It's a sign that the Raiders are
prepared to meet the challenges
of the next millennium to return to prominence as one of the
NFL's elite teams...
