Mr. JAGDISH GANDHI
A Profile.

Mr. Jagdish Gandhi was born in 1936 at village Barsauli, Sikandra Rao, in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education at Sikandra Rao and Mathura, the holy city of Lord Krishna, and graduated from Lucknow University. He was elected President of Lucknow University Students' Union in the year 1958. Deeply interested in child-education, he founded City Montessori School, in 1959. An institution which started with 5 students, now has 22 branches and over 22,000 (Twenty two thousand) students on its rolls. He also founded a teacher training college in 1959. In 1959 he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly ( MLA ) from Sikandra Rao in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. As a member of the Legislative Assembly he was sent to England for parliamentary studies in Great Britain. He is a life member of CISV (Children's International Summer Villages) England and is the President of the U.P. Chapter of CISV India. He has attended the following conferences:- CISV Conference at Brussels (Belgium); 7th Triennial Conference of CISV at Leeds (England); 3rd International Conference on Higher Education, Lancaster University, U.K.; Ist World Conference on Gifted Children, London; International Baha'i Travel Teacher's Conference Nottingham University, U.K.; Asian Community in U.K. and Cultural Conflict, Leicester University, U.K.; International Baha'i Teaching Conference at Paris, Hong Kong and Haifa (Israel). He also attended the Anthropological Congress at Chicago, U.S.A. and Youth for Mankind Conference at Chicago, U.S.A. as a special invitee.

Mr. Gandhi has dedicated his life to Education, World Peace and World Unity. He is a widely-travelled man and has visited U.S.S.R., U.S.A., England, France, Switzerland, West Germany, Norway, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, East Germany, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Afghanistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Burma, Iran, Israel and Japan. He has studied, modern methods of child education. He embraced the Baha'i Faith in 1974. Presently he is also the member of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of India. He is also a Rotarian.
