About JMT
|
About JMTJazz Ma Tazz actually began in 1989 and was chartered as a club affiliate of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS). Jazz Ma Tazz was organized as a non-profit corporation in 1993 with the State of Louisiana.
The purpose of the organization (Jazz Ma Tazz) is
to encourage and promote the sport of skiing among skiers,
to bring together those persons sincerely interested in promoting
the sport of skiing among minorities, and to collectively enhance the sport of skiing through community involvement, group participation, social, and educational activities.
There are four regions by which the NBS is divided: they are: Western Region, Rocky Mountain Region, Midwest Region, and Eastern Region. As an affiliate of the National Brotherhood of Skiers(NBS), our club exists under the umbrella of the Midwest Region. As part of the Midwest Region, we participate in and promote activities that benefit the National organization (NBS).
What does a ski club from New Orleans mean? It means we bring the flavor of New Orleans to the mountains. We second line (Rebirth and Hot 8 music) at the Opening Ceremonial parade. We throw Mardi Gras favors, beads, twirl our second line umbrellas, and have plenty of New Orleans fun! And yes...our colors are Purple, Green and Gold. We bring our New Orleans cuisine such as: gumbo, red beans, fried seafood, jambalaya, and smothered pork chops. Yes, we bring the City of New Orleans to the MOUNTAINS!!!
The Jazz-Ma-Tazz
Ski and Social Club meets every third Thursday of the month. Future meeting location: TBA
