HOW LONG HAVE YOU OFFERED BICYCLE TRIPS TO CHINA?

2007 is our 26th year of offering bicycle trips to Southern China. Back in 1981, we organized the FIRST bicycle touring for westerners in China. For your peace of mind, all our tours are guaranteed departures. We have NEVER cancelled a tour.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A GROUP?

Our group size is stricly limited, average is 10-12 participants. This is done so you get a fully interactive and intimate visit of the country rather than being just with other tourists. Small groups increase access to special places and special people. We visit areas where some locals have seldom seen people of other races. They welcome us into their lives, and they will be very curious about you and where you come from.

DOES AGE MATTER?

Absolutely not. We have participants in their 20's and others in their 60's and some in their late 70's on almost every trip. The main thing is to feel young, and IF you do not when you start, you WILL when you finish.

DO I NEED TO BE FIT?

Just a normal healthy condition is all that is necessary. You customize your pace and ride as much or as little as you want. This is touring. We make many stops for sightseeings on the way everyday.

WHEN DO TOURS COMMENCE?

Since Hong Kong and Mainland China are past the international dateline, you lose 1 day going, therefore the tour starts on DAY 3 of your Itinerary Brochure (Page 2 of this website).

WHERE DO WE STAY?

You will be nicely surprised by the level of amenities tourist hotels have to offer in China. For the most part, we stay in 3 or 4 star hotels, equivalent somewhat to Holiday Inns and Marriott and on Day 6, we stay in a Country Inn. On page 4, you will find a more detailed description with some hyperlinks taking you directly to the hotel's websites.

WHAT ABOUT MEALS?

After you sign up with a deposit, you will be sent a welcome package containing a China Travelers Handbook, going over the chinese cuisine in more details. All meals are covered everyday, except few dinners on your own.

HOW FAR DO WE PEDAL EACH DAY?

On average, we cycle about 40 miles a day. You bike only when you feel like biking. At all time we have a van available and a truck to pick up the bike and bring you to the next meeting point. Total mileage is about 400 miles.

DO WE GET MAPS OR DIRECTIONS?

No, a map or directions would be useless since all markings are in Chinese characters. In all our years of continued operation, we never had anyone lost. We have staff on hand to check on you and we will post someone at a fork in the road if there is any doubt as to which directions to go-on.

DO YOU HAVE REFERENCES?

Every participant on our past tours IS a reference. We encourage you to talk with someone in your area who has been on our tours. In addition, you will find "testimonials" on Page 6 of this website.
