Goshen Methodist Episopal Church
Perry Township, Coshocton County, Ohio
The original church structure, a log cabin, was erected in 1820 on the Coulter farm. It was the first established church in the township. After the original structure burnt in 1859, the present edifice was erected in 1860. Reverend Thomas Carr was the founding preacher and early families included the Lee's, Pigman's, Coulter's, Cullison's, McVey's and Wright's. Many of these families have strong ties to this township and were pioneers. Perry township along with Pike township are the only two townships in Coshocton County that were 100% Military Bounty Lands. These records are available online and are worth exploring if your family has early roots in this area. Cullison's Ridge lies just north of this cemetery where Wilson's Chapel and Cemetery are situated. The Pigman Family still farms there. I will add more history as I unearth it.
