Notes:
On the 1850 census, Elijah and his family are next to the families of his
brothers, Jefferson and James.
On the 1860 census, Elijah is not found listed. However, Elizabeth age 35,
male, farmer, with wife Mary S. age 30, is listed, including 6 children. Among
the children are John age 12 and Isabella age 6, both fit the age profile from
the 1850 census. Either Elijah was not with his family when the 1860 census was
taken, or the Elizabeth is his sister and the enumerator mistakenly marked her
as being male and head of house. In either case, Elijah was somewhere in 1860.
On the 1870 census, Eliga and his family are next door to the families of
Jefferson and Cabel Higginbotham.
