History

Sometime in late 1996, Bob Merrigan (ex-Tanuma) Jamie O'Shea (ex-Tanuma) Tim Sheahan (ex-Proof Positive and Another Glass of Christ) and Matt Tennis decided to start New Jersey Faiplan. Tim and Bob played guitar and sang, Jamie banged on the drums and Matt played the bass and sang a couple of songs. The four boys from UNH played their first show on December 13th, 1996 at UNH's Hubbard Hall with Reaction and Kid Co. (RIP) During April of 1997, Matt parted ways with the band. (Strangely enough, the original lineup managed to live together in the same apartment until May of 1998.) From late April until August of 1997, the band played as a trio, with Bob handling the bass duties. New Jersey Fairplan's first 7" was recorded during this time and released in early August of 1997 as the "wait" EP on Medical Records. Ken Worsley (ex-Another Glass of Christ) joined the band as bass player in August of that year, and Bob moved back to guitar. This lineup has remained steady ever since (despite Bob's constant threats of quitting.) The current lineup played their first show on August 29th, 1997 at the Cafe Savoie in Manchester, New Hampshire with the jazz june and Midcarson July...and their last show at the Portland, ME Fine Arts Center in February of 1999 with The Warren Commission, Hyperbolic and Popawheelie.
