Many the resources availabe on the internet using an E-mail account. Those without full internet connections will appreciate the fact that Archie, FTP and newsservers can be accessed with an E-mail account. Even users with full internet access may prefer to use FTP mail services, instead of downloading files with FTP clients, if their connections are slow. Any devotee of FTP will probably appreciate Archie mailers, which can drasticaly cut down the time spent online hunting files. Almost anybody can benifit from subscribing to mailing lists and newsgroups. And In Reference's searches accessed by mail can help you separate the real postings from the spam.

Free Email accounts

There are lots of places on the internet where free POP and web based EMail accounts can be obtained free of charge. These sites don't charge for usage, and make their money from advertisements. But this does not mean that these sites give out your address to Email spammers. They rely soley on ad displays on their web pages, which recieve lots of traffic from the Email users. But, you do need internet access to use these accounts

Mail Excite

Web based. Currently supports automatic mail answering.

PObox is said to be the first to have offered lifetime E-mail fowarding. Upto three aliases will be fowarded to your mailbox. In addition They let your redirect three URL's of the form www.pobox.com/~alias. Another of their features is offer automatic filtering and deletion of Mailbombs and spam.
So why aren't they as popular as Netaddress and Hotmail?.

Pegasus Mail
Pegasus mail, also called Pmail is a great client that lets you manage multiple POP accounts, maintain mailing lists, filter incoming mail and well do almost anything you want to do with your mail
Eudora
Eudora is ideal for beginners, but packed with enough features to keep quite a few nerds happy. Two versions of Eudora, Eudora Lite and Eudora Pro are available however only Eudora Lite is freeware

FTP mail

Anonymouse FTP is one of the most significant inventions in th history of mankind - Harley Hahn, The Internet complete reference1.
What's more FTP services can be used even by those who do not have full internet access. This is possible due to the availability of FTP mail services.
These FTP mailers will deliver the contents of anonymous FTP sites right into your mailbox. To obtain a list of commands for use with FTP mail, please send mail to one of the following addresses with the word help in the body of the message.

Archie

With slow internet and telephone connections, and local call charges that reminds me of muggers. I almost never use my windows archie client. Instead I access archie by mail. To get a list of commands, send mail to one of the following archie servers with the command 'help' within the body of the message.
(archie servers usualy treat the subject line of the email as part of the body
All archie servers are basicaly the same, so a set of commands used on one archie server is sure to be compatible with any other. There are enough archie servers out there to keep anyone counting for quite awhile. To get a complete list of archie servers send mail to one of these addresses with the command servers in the body of the message
