Solo Performance schedule and Resume
I play four instruments, Violin, Piano, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet. Some day I want to play saxophone and drums. I have been a member
of high school concert band, jazz, pep, and marching band. for last five years. In summer I attend music camps. For two summers, I worked in Syracuse University Band library.
I was given Community work experience award for year 97 -98 by my high school on the award night. As a part of my transition program in 99 school year
I took couple of music courses at the Onondaga Community College. In year 2000-01 I participated in Syracuse University " On Campus" program. At SU I took music courses,
participated in SU orchestra and also went back to FM school in the afternoon for the band classes. I had also formed small ensemble and
we had a concert locally.
My evenings are busy with my music practices and sports activities. 98 summer I played for two community bands as well did many solo performances.
In 99 I continued to volunteer my solo performances. Year 2000 was very exciting as I decided to make music my career. I was invited to Singapore
for Millennium Symposium on disability where I performed various times and received two awards of achievements, First from the President of Singapore
Mr. S. R. Nathan and second from the commissioner of community development. I was also invited to Malaysia and Canada. In year 2001 I received another
International award by Foundation of Exceptional Children " Yes I Can". I have been doing the martial art "Tae Kwon Do" for last 7 years. I won the Bronze medal in the NY State Tae Kwon Do tournaments in 1994.
November 7th 1998 was the big day in my life as I earned the black belt. Now I am working on for the second dan. I participate in different sports all year. I love alpine skiing,
swimming, cross-country running and bowling. I won many medals in state tournaments for each of these sports. Most memorable sport event was in North Carolina World Games'99 special olympics, where I won two silver medals in aquatics.
I love watching TV and playing video games. I use computer for games, homework and e-mail.
I send e-mail to my teachers, pen pal friends, and to my family in India. I was in a computer graphic class in tenth grade where one of my
assignments was to build a web page. I worked on this web page with the help of my favorite cousin Santosh, my brother and my parents. However now my dad has taken over and maintains and updates all the activities. 99 summer I worked in the civic center doing data entry in the computer department. Last summer and this school year I been working in local music store. We have a summer camp on the lake where I love to take speed rides with my brother in our motorboat. I row my fishing boat by myself and go
fishing with my dog. Past summer my parents bought us a personal watercraft Waverunner I had so much fun riding that all by myself.
I travel for my sports and performances all year long. During the summer,
we take family vacations. We love cruises. I visit my family in Bombay, India every 3-5 years. I was in India during my 98 Christmas break and February 2000. I had great time with my cousins.
I would like to have my own car and drive around like my brother. I hope to continue playing music in solo performances and with a band. I have started doing workshop with my mom where she talks about my life and how music have helped me and could help others.
