Let's rock...
Sometimes craters can be difficult to identify using just a map... so if I get it wrong... ;-P |
You would think as large as these two craters are, they would be easy for me to identify, huh? (hey... what can i say? it's a blonde thing... ;)
Regardless, they are splendid.... And you can't miss Tycho!! ;)
I was absolutely amazed at the amount of detail the camera could actually capture! Suddenly, right here on the screen before me appears a picture that very closely resembles what I can see in the eyepiece!!.
Bottoms up! This is the area near the "Straight Wall"! (and do you think i could get anything more than a smeared shot of it? nooooooo... ;)
Toward the top of the frame crater Stofler hides in the shadow, followed by Walter and Purbach below.
Hola!! Right in the middle of the frame sits the infamous "Straight Wall"! Yes, I switched it. I just like the more drawn back frames! Deslandres and Hell is at the top, and Ptolemaeus is at the bottom.
(Gosh, that sounds like some horrible crippling disease, doesn't it? ;)
Anyhow, here's a shot that's a bit closer and still remains somewhat clear. (and Thebit winking us a "peek"!)
Ah, Plato... What a splendid mystery this one is! Usually it shows a rather flat and loveless eye, but upon occasion shows a bit of sparkle!
Eventually I did wind up with a decent shot of Clavius...
I just love all the interior detail of this crater!
The stretched out, unusual form of Schiller shows well in this frame. (Boy! Is it ever tough to identify craters from this map... whooooo!)
What a great area when the shadows come out to play!
Posidonius is a wonderful crater to use high magnification on...
So let's go somewhere a bit more peaceful, eh? The Sinus Iridum's smooth surface and surrounding mountains made for a beautiful picture. At the Moon's edge, the flat structure and central peak of Crater Pythagoras can be seen.
Beauties, huh? Timocharis is the little crater to the right of the frame, and the Appenine Mountains dominate the scene!
Still ready for more? Then by all means... Let's go! Because...
