WYATT NOTES:
Some of the WYATT researchers think that Nathan
WYATT was the father of Jordan WYATT (b.c1775), and believe that
he is direct to the Haute WYATT line of England and Virginia, but
to my knowledge this link has not been proven.
According to the census records of Jordan WYATT,
(the 2nd) his mother Susannah WELCH was also born in NC. There is
a Thomas WELCH that married Jane THOMSON, 10-28-1772 in Rowan
County NC.
I believe Susannah was born about 1775-78, and since the WYATT
family also lived in Rowan County, and since Jordan and
Susannah's marriage record listed a Thomas WELCH as Bondsman, I
feel that it is good possibility this couple her parents.
The will of John THOMSON dated 1760 in Rowan County NC records,
names wife, Margaret and a daughter Jane THOMSON among his heirs.
Also on Madison County census 1810 is MARK WYATT (full name believed to be John Mark WYATT) , brother of Jordan. He married LUCY WEST in Madison County in 1808. One known son, WESTLEY WEST WYATT, born 1818, married Silina Caroline James about 1837. Their children, all born in Arkansas were: Nancy Jane,b1839 m. Henry JACKSON; *Sarah Meriah,b1841 m.Peter DAVIS; John Marion,b1844 m. Elizabeth Rollins; Martha S. b1846; Mary S. b1849; Mincey C. b1851;Margaret E. b1854; and Lucy E. b1855 m. Spencer HAINES. Record says that *Sarah Meriah was born in Washington County Arkansas and married 1st Richard WASNUM.
Another brother, JAMES WYATT married HELENA
NEWTON in Estell County 1816.
Both these families are on the 1820 census roll of Estell County
Kentucky.
PHILLIP and LENORA (WYATT) HOWARD are on the
census of Owsley County Ky in 1850
lists their children: NANCY, SUSAN, MARY,LUCY, JORDAN and ELLEN
HOWARD.
WILLIAM and NANCY (HOWARD) WYATT are in the 1860
census of Estell County
and lists their children: PHILLIP, LEONARD, EDNA and MELINDA
WYATT.
Re:Mary Elizabeth, (the first wife of William
Bell WYATT). Her second marriage was to James Stephens, and they
lived in Wilson County Texas. The census records list her
birthplace as Arkansas. Her death record states she was born on 6
March 1853. She died 29 January 1934 in Bexar County Texas. It
does not give parents name.
There is a record of marriage in Bell County Texas for a William
B. Wyatt and Mary E. Bartley, 12 July 1871, which I feel is their
marriage, however her decendants think that her maiden name may
have been Nichols, and since William and Mary are both such
common names, I can't be sure.
