These pictures are from a trip my wife and I took to Tampa to see the Flyers play the Lightning in February of 1999. Here we are in the parking lot behind the Ice Palace getting ready to go in.
Our trip fell in the middle of the Flyers' dubious record-setting stretch of twelve games played without a win, which sucked. Anyway, my hockey-'ho and I went to the
Wyndham Hotel
after the game to try and get a few autographs. As you'll see, we came away with more than we'd bargained for!
The Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel in Tampa
My thanks to the security staff of the Wyndham for the kindness they showed us by bending the rules and letting us speak with the players (an agreement between the team and the hotel prohibited autographs on the premesis). Despite this, they let us meet some of the players and take a few pictures. For this the Wyndham will always have my heartfelt thanks.
Mo' with Eric Lindros, 27 FEB 99
The object in Lindros's hand is a license plate that a girl drove down from Virginia to give him. It says "HOCKY 88" and it was easy to tell that he was genuinely touched by the gift.

And here, finally, is the group picture of us die-hard fans just before we got kicked out of the hotel. The girl who brought Lindros the license plate is the one without the jersey. The guy in the suit is in charge of security at the hotel and I'm sorry to say I've forgotten his name. Nevertheless, as you've read, he was pretty cool about the whole thing and he treated us very well.
