NOTE: NEWS and DISCOGRAPHY/LYRICS are updated to November 19th, 2005 and December 10, 2005 (respectively). With the release of "The Collection," Thank U Alanis Morissette will be winding down its updates. The Collection signifies an end of an era, and the beginning of a transition in her career and her life, and this makes a good time to wrap things up on this site. It has been an amazing 7.5 years, and while I will certainly miss updating this site, I will not regret fussing over every little rumor and dealing with CD releases, videos, and singles that change on a daily basis at the whim of Maverick/Warner.  This site was started prior to the release of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, and has grown to house one of the largest accurate Alanis Morissette lyrics collections on the web, and the news section below documents a history that is both personal to me, and relevant to Alanis' fans.  It even received a link from Alanis' own website a few years ago. 

Thank U to everyone who has signed the guestbook with positive or helpful comments, everyone who has visited this site over the years, and most of all to Alanis for making music that is relevant to so many people.

• The Collection was released on November 15th, 2005. Discography has been updated.
• Alanis has recorded a song titled "Wunderkind" for the Narnia soundtrack
• The single for "Crazy" will receive a commercial release in November and December of 2005. A video has been released on AOL.com (and elsewhere later this week), using a dance remix of the song and featuring yet another new look of Alanis'. In it, she appears as a 1994-ish Alanis throwing a jealous fit at a man who shows up with his new girlfriend. The "twist": turns out she's jealous that he stole the girl from Alanis, not the other way around.
• Alanis' newest single, a cover of Seal's "Crazy," has been released through Gap stores internationally. A video is being recorded and it will be features as new content on her upcoming "The Collection," to be released throughout November around the world.  The tracklist is as follows (for lyrics and further information on original releases, see discography/lyrics):

• Many retailers are boycotting Alanis' products and all of her CD's have been pulled from the shelves of stores such as HMV, as a result of her decision to give exclusive sales rights to Starbucks.
• All the lyrics to Jagged Little Pill Acoustic are now up! Release date in Starbucks is June 13th, 2005, and in stores 6 weeks later. Alanis is current touring North America in support of the album. Click through to lyrics to see them, as well as scans of the album cover, which is a modern imitation of the original.  Highlights of the album include an accompanied Your House, and the use of some orchestral instruments on a few tracks!
• Alanis will be touring North America starting in early June in Toronto.  During the week of her album release she will kick off the tour in Toronto, as well as receive a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
• Plans are already being made for a reality TV show based on the short clip of "We're With The Band" which was featured as an online bonus with her So-Called Chaos CD.  Tom Hanks recently signed on to produce the project which is still in the works.
• Alanis is currently on a European tour and will likely be touring the rest of the world in support of her album (see below) later this year
• The re-release of Jagged Little Pill will include all of the songs on the album in their updated, acoustic, forms in the exact order of the original release.  The re-release will occur on June 13, exactly ten years after the original release. It will initially only be available in Starbucks stores, but will be rolled out to the mass market on July 26.
• Alanis recently posted on her website a handful of updates. Among them: Jagged Little Pill will be re-released with bonus acoustic tracks in the new year (for the 10th anniversary), and she will be releasing a Greatest Hits album later in 2005!
• Alanis has made a number of television appearances lately, in support of Eight Easy Steps. Not much other news lately.
• Alanis recently appeared in two sketches on MadTV, including one titled "Bubble Trouble" -- lyrics are already up!! She will appear on American Dreams on Sunday (Nov. 7).
• Added a number of album and single scans today.  Check for them throughout the lyrics section of this site (at the top of the section for each album).
• News on the new single: Out Is Through has been released as a commercial single in the UK (Available internationally as an import), and Eight Easy Steps is the new radio/video single in North America.  The video can be viewed in the 'media' section of the Maverick website. The Out is Through single features Vancouver Sessions versions of Eight Easy Steps, Spineless, and This Grudge. Lyrics are up.
• Alanis recently announced that she is engaged to actor and long-time boyfriend Ryan Reynolds. Congratulations to Alanis!
• Alanis will be appearing in the upcoming (July 2nd) movie De-Lovely! She performs a special version of Cole Porter's Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)! Lyrics are now up!
• All the lyrics to So-Called Chaos are now up!
• Alanis has been performing varied versions of her songs on recent TV appearances. In performing Ironic, she has changed the line "and meeting his beautiful wife" to "beautiful husband," and the opening line of Everything has used (in place of 'asshole') 'bum-bum', 'ass-bowl', and most consistently, "I can be an ass of the holiest kind." Lyrics to the live performances are coming soon!
• Alanis has made a number of TV and radio appearances in the last few weeks. At almost all she exclusively performed Everything, though at some she performed Ironic. Appearing on the Howard Stern show, she revealed a lot about her sexual history, including that she's been with a woman, Dave Coulier was her first love and first 'time,' amongst other things.
• So-Called Chaos has been released internationally.  It features 10 all-new tracks including the full version of "Everything."  Of particular note are the title track which has a heavy bass beat, and This Grudge which is reportedly about the same person as You Oughta Know (and 11 other songs). Look for lyrics soon.
• The Everything single has been released in Canada (international releases have not been widely publicized).  It features the radio (uncensored) edit, and two tracks from "The Vancouver Sessions." Lyrics and tracks are already posted on lyrics page!
• Alanis.com recently announced that Alanis will be touring the United States this summer through July and August! Check alanis.com for full tour dates.
• Alanis Morissette performed at Ottawa's Civic Centre Arena on Saturday April 24th, as an introduction for the Dalai Lama.  She performed three songs acoustically (with just two guitar accompanists); Utopia, Everything (the full version), and Thank U.  She then gave a prepared speech in introduction of the Dalai Lama.
• Alanis hosted the 2004 Juno Awards in Edmonton Alberta on April 4th. She performed in a number of comedic skits, and performed a longer version of her single "Everything." No confirmation yet whether or not this was an unusual extended version to extend the length of the show which ended 15 minutes early, or whether this was the full version to appear on the album.  Lyrics to Everything (the version heard on radio), the nightmare version, and the version performed on the 2004 Juno Awards are all available on the lyrics page NOW.
• "Everything" is expected to be released to radio the week of March 15th. In the wake of Nipple-gate, Americans can expect to hear a censored version of the song -- the line "I can be an asshole of the grandest kind" will be replaced with "I can be a nightmare of the grandest kind." Canada and most other countries around the world will still air the uncensored version unless demand is high for the censored version. The original version will still appear on the album in all countries.
• Alanis has been announced as the HOST of the 2004 JUNO AWARDS!!!!  The ceremony will be held on Sunday April 4, 2004 in Edmonton, Alberta.  Check Ticketmaster or www.juno-awards.com for tickets! The 2004 Juno Nominees CD has also been released, there is a bonus DVD included that features Alanis' segment with Jann Arden for Band Aid. Alanis is nominated for one 2004 Juno - in the Best Music DVD category for Feast on Scraps.
• "Everything" was featured in the March 2nd, 2004 episode of Smallville!
• The official press release about the NEW ALBUM has been released. The album is called So-Called Chaos and features the following tracklist:

• According to Canoe.ca, the NEW ALBUM will be titled "So-Called Chaos." It is expected to be completed very soon, and will feature the tracks "So-Called Chaos," "Eight Easy Steps," "The Grudge," and "Knees of My Bees"
• Alanis performed on NBC's "Today" on Friday September 5th, 2003. She performed Hands Clean, Head over Feet, and the new song 8 Easy Steps.  Transcript coming soon; the album is still being worked on!
• Alanis has been touring in Europe and South America.  She has performed a number of new songs, notably ones titled "8 Easy Steps," "Excuses." "Knees of My Bees," and "So Called Chaos."  Lyrics will be up soon!
• You Oughta Know was recently named by Vh1 as the #12 song of the last 25 years!
• Alanis is preparing to appear in the movie-musical Just One Of Those Things, a movie about the life of Cole Porter. She plays an actress he has cast, and will sing at least one song in the movie.
• Alanis' song Hand In My Pocket was featured on the Series Finale of Dawson's Creek. As many may know, the song was originally supposed to be the theme song for the show but permission was never obtained for it to be used as the theme song, so a new opening credit series was adopted using Paula Cole's "I Don't Want To Wait." The original opening credit sequence was aired as a 'video' during the episode. Alanis' songs That I Would Be Good and Hands Clean have been featured on the show in the past. The episode re-airs Friday May 16th on Global in Canada, Wednesday May 28th on the WB, and perpetually in repeats on TBS.
• Alanis has announced a number of non-North American tourdates. Details are available at alanis.com
• The transcript from Alanis' appearance on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn is now (finally!) up!
• According to Rollingstone.com and MuchMusic.com, Alanis is ready to head back to the studio sometime over the next few weeks!! She will begin writing and recording for a follow-up album to Under Rug Swept/Feast On Scraps. 
• Alanis appeared and presented at the 2003 Juno Awards! She made a presentation on Band Aid (a group put together by CARAS to donate instruments to needy schools); and presented one award.  She came to the awards ceremony with her 'partner' Ryan Reynolds (of Two Guys And A Girl).  She WON a Juno Award for "Jack Richardson Producer Of The Year" for Hands Clean and So Unsexy and accepted it on behalf of all the nominees and all the producers she has worked with.
• Transcripts from Alanis' 2002 appearances on the Caroline Rhea Show and The Tonight Show are now up!
• Precious Illusions has been included on the Juno Awards 2003 album; available in stores now.
• Alanis has been nominated for THREE 2003 Juno Awards, in the categories Artist of the Year (against Daniel Bélanger, Céline Dion, Shania Twain, and Remy Shand); Pop album of the year for Under Rug Swept (against Jarvis Church's Shake It Off, Emm Gryner's Asian Blue, Avril Lavigne's Let Go, and Amanda Marshall's Everybody's Got A Story); and Jack Richardson Producer Of The Year for Hands Clean and So Unsexy (against Garth Richardson for songs by Chevelle, Arnold Lanni for songs by Simple Plan, Bob Rock for Somewhere Out There (Our Lady Peace) and Take Me As I Am (Tonic), and Remy Shand for songs by Remy Shand).
• Alanis will be honoured at this year's Rock The Vote awards for her activism.  The show will be held February 23, 2003.
• The Top 10 list section has been updated!
• Ironic was recently named by Vh1 as the number 10 video of the 90's.

• Alanis performed at the Air Canada Centre December 12th.  Earlier in the day she appeared on MuchMusic's MuchOnDemand where she was interviewed and questioned by Rick Campanelli and fans.  At the concert, Alanis performed, for the first time in almost 10 years, Too Hot, from her 1991 album "Alanis."
• Alanis appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn on December 17th! She did an interview, and performed 21 Things I Want In A Lover.
• Feast on Scraps has been released in North America.  The DVD features a concert recorded from Rotterdam, Holland, interspersed with clips from other concerts around the world, and sound bytes and 'making of's from Under Rug Swept.  The DVD features the following songs: Baba, Right Through You, 21 Things I Want In A Lover, Hand In My Pocket, Purgatorying, Unprodigal Daughter, Flinch, All I Really Want, Precious Illusions, Sympathetic Character, So Unsexy, Head Over Feet, You Oughta Know, Hands Clean, Uninvited, Ironic, You Learn, That Particular Time, and Thank U. An interesting note, Alanis uses a teleprompter during concerts! • Alanis appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday December 5th.  She performed 21 Things I Want In A Lover (Transcript up soon!).  Feast on Scraps will be released on Tuesday December 10th!
• Alanis appeared on the Caroline Rhea Show on Tuesday, November 19th. She performed 21 Things I Want In A Lover and Precious Illusions.  She was interviewed by Caroline, and strangely had her hair tied completely up! Transcript soon.
• Feast on Scraps will be available either as a DVD with a bonus CD or a CD with a bonus DVD! The DVD will feature a live performance from Rotterdam. The CD tracklist has also been announced for Feast on Scraps, it is as follows (most lyrics are already up!):

• Alanis appeared on The View on October 18th, 2002.  She did a brief interview and performed 21 Things I Want In A Lover.  Transcript eventually.
• Alanis will be releasing a DVD/Bonus CD combo on December 10th, 2002.  It is titled "Feast on Scraps," and will feature a number of assorted clips (many submitted by fans), as well as 10 tracks on the CD (9 new).  For more information, see www.alanis.com. • Alanis appeared at the San Remo Music Festival 2002 (an all-female show in Italy). It was aired on MuchMusic, and she performed a lip-synched version of Hands Clean
• Unfortunately Alanis did not win in her categories at the Teen Choice Awards
• Surrendering has been getting some radio airplay, but there has been no official mention of it from Alanis' sources
• Alanis has been nominated for a Kiss 92 "Fannie" award. She is nominated in the Favourite Canadian Female category against Nelly Furtado, Amanda Marshall, and Avril Lavigne.

• On Thursday June 20th, Alanis appeared on the "Teen Choice Presents: 2002 Summer Music Mania" concert special, which also doubled as the forum for announcing the Teen Choice Award nominations. Alanis is nominated in two categories: Female Artist, and Singer/Songwriter (online ballot only). She performed two songs; Hands Clean and a special encore performance of Precious Illusions. The Teen Choice Awards will be August 19th at 8 PM on Fox, and votes are being taken at www.seventeen.com, and through ballots available in the July issue of Seventeen magazine. Transcript is now up
• Alanis appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on June 19th. She performed Precious Illusions and chatted with Jay - Transcript is up on the live performances page
• The video for Precious Illusions has been released. It features a split-screen style image, with the left half being the illusional version of the relationship in question, and the right side being the actual events. It is available to view at Alanis' Maverick site
• Alanis did not appear on Politically Incorrect last night (June 17th) as originally reported. She will, however, appear on Jay Leno Wednesday the 19th, and at the Teen Choice Summer Concert Special on Thursday the 20th.
• Alanis did not win in either of her categories at the MuchMusic Video Awards, Nelly Furtado won both
• Alanis' episode of Music In High Places will be released on DVD and VHS on August 27th in the US. It will feature previously unseen segments.
• Alanis has finished recording the video for Precious Illusions; it features a split-screen style depiction of both sides of the relationship in question
• The lyrics to all the Precious Illusions singles (all version thereof) are now up, as well as the lyrics to Purgatorying, Superstar Wonderful Weirdos (a pre-Jagged Little Pill song), and Not The Doctor (Live From Japan) (from the Japanese version of the Hand In My Pocket single)!
• The Precious Illusions singles have been released in Australia (and as imports to the rest of the world). They feature an Acoustic version of Hands Clean, as well as previously unreleased songs "Bent 4 U," "Offer," and "Sorry 2 Myself"
• Alanis is currently touring North America. Further North American dates are pending, but the only Canadian dates foreseen are Toronto and Montreal! She has been performing a new-ish song at concerts, called Purgatorying. She has been breaking it up into three verses instead of performing it all at once.
• Alanis is featured on the cover of the most recent issues of Canadian Musician and Women Who Rock Magazine!
• The Precious Illusions single has been released in North America. It features one b-side, Hands Clean (Acoustic Version). It will be released internationally with more b-sides
• In addition to being nominated for a people's choice MMVA (MuchMusic Video Award, see below), Alanis is nominated for an MMVA in the category "MuchMoreMusic Award," in other words, best adult contemporary video. She is nominated for Hands Clean (Version 1), and is nominated against Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come," David Usher's "Black Black Heart (original version)," Nelly Furtado's "Shit On The Radio (Remember The Days)," and Remy Shand's "Take A Message" The MMVA's air Sunday June 16th on MuchMusic. • Alanis will be appearing on The Today Show on June 14

• Alanis performed Hands Clean at the Juno Awards April 14th. On the red carpet she commented that while she thought she had been to Newfoundland before, it turns out she'd actually been to PEI.
• Alanis performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on April 12th (well, technically, April 13th). She performed Hands Clean and they discussed her hair. Transcript up soon

• Hands Clean is now #1 on the MuchMusic Countdown
• An alternate version of the Hands Clean video is now being played on MuchMusic. It has a "Behind the Scenes" feel to it
• Alanis' song 21 Things I Want In A Lover will be featured on the show Roswell on May 7th
• Alanis is featured on the cover of this month's Flare, in which there is a two page article about her. She will appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 4th.
• Alanis appeared on The View on March 21st. She chatted with the hosts and performed Hands Clean. Transcript up soon!
• Alanis (in the last week) appeared on the following shows and performed various songs: Late Show With David Letterman (Hands Clean), Last Call With Carson Daly (Hands Clean, Your House and So Unsexy), and Rosie O'Donnell (Hands Clean, Uninvited). She also performed at a MuchMusic Intimate & Interactive on Friday March 1st, at which she performed a number of songs and had an interview with Namagenyi Kiwanuka from MuchMusic. • From MuchMusic.com: This is Alanis Morissette's moment. On February 26th her new album "Under Rug Swept" hits the stores. To celebrate she'll do Letterman, Rosie, The View and Last Call with Carson Daily. Then she hops back over to Canada to cross the country in four days, giving press conferences and private performances for fans. Then of course the whole week ends with the MuchMusic I&I in Vancouver on March 1st. We spoke to Alanis recently in L.A. about her state of mind. “I’ve gone crazy many times, it’s not that scary of a thing to go crazy,” says Morissette. “You just keep walking.” As for her expectations for her new album, Alanis has none. “I love selling records, I love money, I love abundance, I love all of it, bring it on. But my main motivation is to write songs that really encapsulate a moment in time and once I’ve done that it’s a success to me.”
• Alanis performed a concert last night (Feb. 21) in Salt Lake City as part of the Hallmark Olympic Concert Series. Visibly drunk, and still drinking, she made her way through songs from Jagged Little Pill and Under Rug Swept. Songs aired on CBC were: All I Really Want, Right Through You, Narcissus, You Learn, A Man, 21 Things I Want In A Lover, You Oughta Know, So Unsexy, Head Over Feet, Hands Clean, Ironic, Precious Illusions, and Thank U (the only SFIJ song). She commented that the Canadian women's hockey game was really good, and in her words she congratulated "the winners" and "the losers" of the medals and that just for all their training and time spent they were "fucking awesome." • Alanis appeared on NBC's Today Show today (Feb. 21, 2002). She performed two songs, acoustic versions of Hands Clean and Precious Illusions. She will appear tonight in Salt Lake City as part of the Olympic Concert Series.
• In further discussion of the relationships related to her songs, Alanis has admitted that Hands Clean is about a man 15 years older than her whom she had a relationship with during the time that she was 14-18. When asked if the relationship could be considered "illegal" she replied "technically," but went on to say that she does not believe this person deserves to be punished in any way. In other somewhat related news, Dave Coulier has recently admitted to being the man in Alanis' song You Oughta Know

• Alanis will be touring across Canada from February 27th through March 1st. She will stop in five cities and be making promotional appearances only. Most appearances are for contest winners only, but many will likely be aired on TV and radio.

• Alanis has a large number of TV appearances coming up in the next week or two. • The Hands Clean singles are all now available worldwide. Discography and lyrics will be up shortly. In total there are five new (non-album) tracks in addition to Hands Clean.
• In an interview with MTV.com, Alanis admitted to having had eating disorders all through her teenage years. They were brought upon partially by an ex-lover of hers (the same one mentioned in You Oughta Know and Hands Clean), who often made comments to her that she needed to stay thin. She also mentioned that almost all of Under Rug Swept was written in Toronto.

• Alanis will appear on Good Morning America, The Late Show With David Letterman, and Bravo Musicians on February 25th, The Rosie O'Donnell show on the 26th, The Carson Daly Show on the 27th, and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 4th.
• Alanis will be doing an Intimate and Interactive on MuchMusic live from Vancouver on March 1st. This appearance will be preceded and followed by promotional events across Canada.
• The Hands Clean commercial single was released January 29th internationally, and is a two-part single with 3 and 4 tracks on each CD. It will be released in North America as a two-track one-part single on February 12th.
• The video for Hands Clean is now being aired on MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic and MTV worldwide. It shows Alanis going through the process of creating a song; starting back in the early 90's when the person in question first spited her, and going through the writing, recording, and promotions processes, until finally she sees her ex-lover ("a few years later") and shrugs him off. Alanis shows us a number a new image in this video, including new clothes and new hair; at one point she even gives the finger to the camera (which is censored).
• Hands Clean has been released online in Germany through the WEA Records (her European label) website. It will be released in North America the week of January 21st. The video was directed by Francis Lawrence, of Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears fame
• The transcript/lyrics to Alanis' performance as well as interview transcripts from Music Without Borders Live are now up.
• According to MTV.com, Alanis has recorded all of Under Rug Swept without the help of former producer Glen Ballard, but did recruit a number of other musicians to accompany her. The list includes MeShell Ndegéocello, Flea, Dean DeLeo (of STP), and Eric Avery (formerly of Jane's Addiction). The lead single Hands Clean will be released mid-January, and the video was directed by Francis Lawrence. She will launch a tour in support of the album sometime early next year.
• Alanis is featured in one of the new "Gifted" Gap ads. She is seen singing the Supertramp song "Give A Little Bit" and strumming her guitar while wearing Gap clothes. All the money she would have earned doing the ad has been donated to one or two of her charities of choice. If you haven't seen the ad, it can be downloaded from www.adcritic.com, it is called "Gap - Gifted - Mixed." Other artists featured in Alanis' version of this ad are Seal and Macy Gray.
• According to her journal entry at Alanis.com, Alanis WILL be releasing the other 10 tracks recorded for Under Rug Swept. She wrote about 30 songs, recorded 21 of them. Only 11 of them appear on Under Rug Swept, but she did not want to leave the other tracks unheard, so she will release an EP ("volume 2" in her words), featuring those 10 tracks
• The first single off of Under Rug Swept will be Hands Clean. Alanis is taping the video for this song in L.A. this weekend (Dec. 1-2).
• Alanis will be presented with the Global Tolerance Award by the Friends of the United Nations at a Dec. 11th ceremony in New York. She is being honoured for her contributions to promoting tolerance through the arts, which have included performances in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, at the Great Jubilee Concert for a Debt-Free World in Rome, and her cultural exchange visit to Cuba in 1998
• Alanis performed at the Music Without Borders Live benefit concert on September 21st. It was broadcast live on MuchMusic and re-aired on CBC later that evening. The concert helped raise over one million dollars for the United Nations Donor Appeal. She performed (in order:) All I Really Want, A Man, Still, Sister Blister, You Learn, Sympathetic Character, and Thank U (The last two were not aired). Transcript is coming soon.

• Alanis will be participating in one of the many September 11th benefit concerts this weekend. On Sunday October 21st, she will be headlining the "Music Without Borders Live" concert, hosted/broadcast by MuchMusic and also featuring Our Lady Peace, Barenaked Ladies, Choclair, The Tragically Hip, and Bruce Cockburn. All money raised is being contributed to the United Nations. The concert will be broadcast live from 9-12 on Much and from 10:30-1:30 on CBC.

• The re-launch of Alanis.com has been postponed indefinitely. Be sure, however, to check out a very insightful and appropriate letter from Alanis regarding the events of September 11th. She is considering and/or working on a tribute show or shows.
• Alanis.com (which replaced www.alanismorissette.com as Alanis' offical website) was scheduled to be re-launched Sept. 12th, but due to recent events in the United States, has been postponed.
• Alanis is featured on Tricky's new album "Blowback." It is a very small part (she sings back-up on one song), but it's a pretty good album and therefore worth checking out!
• Alanis has finally resolved the issues with Maverick Records and, under a new contract, WILL be releasing the new album sometime in October. No word yet on a title or lead single.
• Alanis appeared on Parliament Hill for Canada Day 2001, broadcast on CBC. She performed two songs: You Learn and a new song called Narcissus.
• Alanis is beginning another worldwide tour. It kicks off with two dates in Los Angeles and takes her around the world in only a couple months. • Maverick Records recently reported that Alanis' new album will be released June 12th, but more recently has changed their announcement to read "by the end of 2001"
• Unfortunately, Alanis did not win in her 2001 Grammy category, it was instead won by Sheryl Crow.
• King Of Pain has been released as a single in Germany, featuring previously unreleased B-Sides from MTV Unplugged (Baba, Thank U, and Your House)
• Alanis recently appeared on the TV series Sex and the City. She appeared as a bisexual woman that star Sarah Jessica Parker's character ends up having an impromptu encounter with, when her boyfriend turns out to be bi and brings her to a party where he and his friends play spin the bottle. • Although she is currently writing for her new yet-to-be-named album (which may be released as early as January 2001), Alanis just recently finished an international summer tour (known as the One Tour). Check out www.alanismorissette.com for details!
• Alanis appeared at the 2000 Juno Awards! She presented Sarah McLachlan with her International Achievement Award, and picked up two awards out of the five she was nominated for. She won Best Video for So Pure, and Best Album for Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie.
• Alanis unfortunately did not win her category at the grammy's this year. It was won by Sarah McLachlan. This is the first time since 1996 Alanis has not won at least one award
• Alanis has been nominated for a Gibson Guitar Award. The category is Best Rock Guitarist (Female), and she is nominated against Melissa Etheridge and Chrissie Hynde
• Alanis will be in New York for the next little while performing in the Broadway play "The Vagina Monologues." She is planning to head to the studio to begin writing and recording for a new album
• The 2000 Juno Award Nominations were announced today. Alanis lead the nominees, with FIVE nominations. The Awards ceremony will take place on March 12th. 2000. Alanis' Juno Nominations are as follows: Best Album, Best Female Artist, Best Songwriter, Best Pop/Adult Album, and Best Video
• Ironic was chosen as the number 48 video of the century by MuchMusic.

• Alanis appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday December 16th, and Good Morning America on the 17th. On Letterman, she performed That I Would Be Good. On Good Morning America, Alanis performed Ironic Unplugged and That I Would Be Good. It was also announced that Jagged Little Pill is the Album of the Decade, and ABC put a copy of the album into their 'millenium time capsule'. Congrats to Alanis. Transcripts will be up soon.

• The video for That I Would Be Good (Unplugged) has been released and will be number 29 on the MuchMoreMusic countdown on December 3rd. Alanis will also appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on December 16th, Good Morning America the 17th, and Rosie O'Donnell the 23rd
• That I Would Be Good was played on Dawson's Creek for a second time on Monday, November 29th in Canada, and Wednesday November 24th in the US

• MTV Unplugged has been released in North America. It features a number of Unplugged and new version of Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, as well as some 'new' songs: No Pressure Over Cappuccino (from the Can't Not Tour), Princes Familiar (originally written for Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie), These R The Thoughts (originally written for Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, appeared on Joining You single as These Are the Thoughts), and King Of Pain (A cover of the original song by Sting and The Police). • Apologies for the lack of updates. To bring you up to date on Alanis: "Still" a brand new song is featured on the Dogma soundtrack. Lyrics will be up very shortly. Alanis also stars in the brand new film Dogma, as God. It is rated R. "MTV Unplugged", the brand new album, is due out November 23rd, the video for the new single That I Would Be Good (Unplugged), now being played on radio, will be released on November 15th. No word yet on single release date or B-sides.

• Alanis has a new song called "Still". It is supposedly written for the movie Dogma, in which she stars as God. She has performed it at some concerts. She is also performing other new songs at these concerts

• The riot-plagued Woodstock '99 is now over. Alanis was fortunate enough to finish her set before any of the mis-haps (although Limp Bizkit called her music 'mellow' during Saturday night's riot). MuchMusic will be showing hilites of Woodstock '99 starting July 29th at 4:30 pm,. and will be repeating it numerous times. Fox will be showing hilights August 3rd at 8:00 pm, and no doubt MTV, VH1, and other music stations will also be showing hilights. Check out Canoe and MTV for more information.
• Alanis performed So Pure on the Late Show with David Letterman July 23rd. She also had a short interview with him. This was in promotion of Woodstock '99. Lyrics and transcript can be found here
• The So Pure single has been released internationally. The North American one (and some other countries too) features live versions of I Was Hoping and So Pure, as well as a 6 minute extended mix of So Pure (VERY different from the original) by Butch Vig. Lyrics to all tracks can be found here.

• Alanis is featured on the new Benefit Album for the Kosovar Refugees, entitled "No Boundaries". She is performing Baba live.

• There is a So Pure remix. In fact there are at least two. There is the version which is being played on the radio, which is a little more upbeat, and has been mixed to sound very much like a dance song. There will also be at least one remix on the So Pure single. More information on tracklist and release date as it becomes available. Shortly after it is released, at least one track will be featured as the RealAudio file of the week.

• The So Pure video was released officially on Friday, June 25th, on AOL, and its related sites. On AOL, go to keyword: ALANIS, otherwise go to http://www.asylum.com/music/alanis_morissette/video_premiere, and follow the link there. The video is also being shown on MuchMusic and MTV internationally. The video features Alanis and long-time boyfriend Dash Mihok (whom the song is rumoured to be about), and features them dancing through different eras. The video shows them dancing the following styles (in order): Ballroom, Latin/Competitive, Swing, Tap, Punk/Goth/'Modern', and finally free-style club. Alanis and Dash both feature amazing period costuming, hair styles, and colors. Alanis directed the video herself. The So Pure single hit radio Tuesday, June 29th internationally.
• More single confusion. Here is the situation in Canada at least. MuchMusic is showing the So Pure video. There is a Joining You video, it just hasn't been seen yet, possible awaiting further release. Some stations are playing Joining You (and treating it as a new release), others So Pure, and yet others That I Would Be Good.
• Just a small note: at the Toronto Concert she played neither So Pure nor That I Would Be Good, just making the single situation more confusing. On a side note; at that concert there were a few interesting tidbits--she dropped the mic after You Learn (whoops), screwed up the lines to Thank U, and got a lot of feedback (the techies need some work). The Crash Test Dummies opened and did a lovely rendition of Britney Spears' Baby One More Time. A couple more notes that are more relevant--the Unsent video actually has words. Like the captions to the MM/MTV version are actually spoken. During the set change before Unsent, they played the video, it had a little longer scenes, and was actually spoken. It featured only Jonathan and Marcus however. Also she has an amazing new version of Perfect. It's like single-quality, the album version is good, but this could be a radio hit.
• Alanis will be touring with Tori Amos starting in August, there will be opening acts from MP3.com, and they will each perform their full set. MP3.com is sponsoring the tour, and will feature live tracks from Alanis and Tori, on their new tour site, www.alanisandtori.com.
• Not much news lately, I've decided I need a name for this site (as opposed to "Alanis Morissette")--So this site is now called "Thank U Alanis Morissette".

• Alanis released Joining You in Canada March 31st
• Here's a really weird fact: In the Ironic video, there is a three-frame long blip. The first frame is either a home video clip, a photograph, or some sort of security camera thing, and although it's blurry it appears to be someone kicking in a glass window or something... Maybe this is old news, who knows? Anyway the next two or three frames or so are a screen that reads -- 1997 /^"^ * -- I think it's really neat. If anyone has the ability to get a screen capture, please sign my guestbook and I'll give you more detailed info. If this is new news, remember it was here first, if you have to take it, please credit me. This was posted on Tuesday, March 16th, 1999. If you heard it before, it's old news, you heard it after, it's mine! LET ME CLARIFY-- Some people seemed a little confused! Don't worry... Okay, in the video for Ironic, perhaps it was just the one time that they showed it on the MuchMusic spotlight, who knows, but in the very last chorus, in between the Yellow Sweater Alanis shot (the second one in that chorus), and the next shot, there's a really quick... blip. I noticed it, and rewound it to just before, and then went frame-by-frame. The frames are as described above, it's really interesting. • Alanis is featured on "The Prayer Cycle". She is featured on four songs, singing in Hungarian and/or French. It was released March 30th.
• Okay here's the scoop on the Singles: "Joining You" has been released internationally. "Unsent" has been released in North America. "So Pure" was released in Japan. There are many different "B-sides" and the lyrics can be found on the lyrics pages.
• Alanis was featured in the March 8th version of Maclean's.
• The video for Unsent has been released, and is great! It shows five different scenes, one for each verse. Each scene contains sub-titles to the silent characters on screen. The video shows the interaction and attitudes of Alanis and "Matthew", "Jonathan", "Terrance", "Marcus", and "Lou". Go to my lyrics section for the complete sub-titles. The video can be seen on MM or MTV.
• On Wednesday, February 24th, Alanis performed Uninvited live at the Grammies, and only moments later won the award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Earlier in the night she also won an award for Best Rock Song, but she lost the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture or Television to Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On. • Alanis announced her Canadian tour at a press conference at the brand new Air Canada Centre in Toronto. All of the opening acts for the Canadian tour were Canadian performers (i.e. the Toronto show was opened by the Crash Test Dummies and Esthero). She also announced that one dollar from the sale of each ticket went to charity. Also, an A2B music file was published for download, as well as advance ticketing
• As learned on the Rosie O'Donnell Show (See below), Alanis will be performing at the Grammys on February 24th.
• Alanis appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show today. She performed Unsent and Thank U. She seemed happy, and looked youthful and vibrant, unlike last night's Letterman appearance where she appeared older and dark. She chatted with Rosie in between the two performances, about the general stuff that we already know/knew. They did have a clip of Alanis' performance on "Star Search" back in 1990. Someone tipped her off to Rosie's surprise, and so Alanis came prepared with a clip of Rosie's appearance there too. Rosie showed a clip of herself working out to "You Oughta Know", and numerous times sang along. When Alanis performed Thank U, for some reason she came in as soon as the intro started, which left the band scrambling to find their places, but they both did really well. We also learned that Alanis will be performing at the Grammy Awards February 24th, hosted by none other than Rosie O'Donnell.
• Alanis performed Unsent on the Late Show with David Letterman last night (Wednesday January 13th). There was also an interview which is rare on the Late Show. The interview included chat about the new single Unsent, in which we learned that the people in the songs are real, but the names have been slightly altered to protect the innocent. (She used nicknames and abbreviations). They also talked about what's happened since her first ever network TV appearance on Letterman back in '95, about the JLP tour, the triathlon [we got the 'instrument not an ornament' line again], and general chit-chat ("You're such a lovely young woman" etc..). She also appears on the Rosie O'Donnell show today.
• The Grammy Nominations are in, with Alanis getting three of them: Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Original Song written for a movie.
• Due to the rapid decline of Thank U on the charts, there is already word of a new single. Alanis performed 'Joining You' on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and there is word Maverick has announced it as the next single. The hard rock tone to this song, as well as Alanis' brilliant voice strengths will surely make it a sucess. In the interview we learned very little new information, other than the fact that the Thank U video was recorded in LA (on a real subway). Other rumours that have surfaced everywhere are Unsent, both received a lot of airplay, and there was a lot of confusion. See the more recent news for the final result.
• Alanis has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Uninvited, for Best Original Song written for a movie.
• In the first week of sales, SFIJ sold in excess of 2.2 Million albums, making it one of the best album releases in a long time.
• Just a note about SFIJ. There are two noticeable mistakes on it. One, the moral code on the cover says 'premiess', instead of 'premises', and two, Jekyll has been spelt Jeckyl ('Jeckyl-and-hydeness, in Front Row). Also on the Canadian version of the Thank U Single, it says SFIJ will be released November 2nd, when the Canadian release date was in fact November 3rd.
  
• Tuesday November 3rd: Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, Alanis' Brand new AMAZING 71 minute album was released today. ALL the songs are just great!!! The CD features pictures of Alanis, a copy of the 'Moral Code', and lyrics to all the songs. The CD itself has a picture of a curled up nude (a la Thank U) Alanis. The songs range from 2:50 (So Pure, the title track), to 5:23 (The Couch). "That I would be Good" features Alanis on the flute.   Most stores had this album well-stocked, some even stayed open past midnight, so that it could be bought as soon as it was released.

• On Sunday November 1st, in a sort of pre-launch party, Alanis was Intimate and Interactive at MuchMusic. She performed a number of songs live, including Uninvited, Thank U, All I Really Want, Ironic (with a different tune), Baba, Can't Not, and a number of other SFIJ songs. When it came to the interview part though, she was very evasive. Anything she said had already been said during the MTV interview that's been plastered across the Internet, or was incredibly vague. (i.e. Q: What aspect of your life keeps you grounded?? A: you breathe. When asked to clarify: You breathe deeply). To read the transcript of the I&I, click here.
• On October 24th Alanis performed live from New York on Saturday Night Live. At 12:02 a.m. Sunday the 25th, Alanis was introduced by Ben Stiller (who mispronounced her name), and sang an amazing rendition of Thank U. Only one slight problem: She slipped up on the last chorus (she was heard to utter "Thank you disillusionment/Thank you ..er.. nothingness/Thank you clarity"). But being the amazing performer she is, Alanis continued the song without a hitch. The lyrics are on the lyrics page.
• The video for Thank U has been released to the shock of some and the delight of others. It features a completely nude Alanis (with the exception of her conveniently long hair and blurred lower section) looking lost and slowly finding herself. The scenes are in LA, including city streets, a supermarket, and a subway. In the video she stands fairly still and sings one of her most beautiful songs yet. It shows people being unaware of her nakedness, and being comforting and friendly to her. Thank U is the first video Alanis has made since Head Over Feet in 1996.
• The Thank U Single has been released worldwide now. It features B Sides Pollyanna Flower, and a demo of Uninvited. The credits in the Thank U video do not include Glen Ballard, her co-writer for Jagged Little Pill.
• Information has been surfacing about her live performances, in small clubs across North America. Alanis has been not only performing new songs from SFIJ; but she has been performing new versions of songs from Jagged Little Pill. Sounds like something you just can't miss
• Her chilling song "Uninvited" (found on the City of Angels Soundtrack) is not on her new album "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie", released November 3rd, but a demo version can be found on the single for "Thank U"
