NEWS
August 19: Professor Natsumi, Athar Adept is hereby appointed as the new Acadamie Regent. It is with great sadness we bid a farewell to Professor Nagisa, we know not what his fate is as he has gone beyond even Natsumi and the Arcanus Adeptus' considerable reach. We hope for his eventual safe return, he will be transferred to the alumni rolls with honor until such time as he returns when he will be immediately returned to the Adept ranks.
July 17: The award ceremony went off without a hitch, though attendance was a little less than hoped. There were representatives from several guilds present. Eduardo looked resplendent in his Pelissee. Memories from the ceremony can be seen in the museum.
July 13: General meeting held. members in attendance: Veneficus, Sigmar, Shota, Dylann, Johnyblaze, Moleia, Khay, Tyara, Scientific. For the first order of business, Veneficus proposed a change to the screening process for younger wizards, replacing the previous method of asking questions based off the by-laws and histories. Instead initiates will be asked questions based on character, ambition, goals, etc. The next order of business was the Acadamie's stance on vetoed initiates. The final conclusion was that after being vetoed an applicant may re-apply once again after 2 deochs. The last order of business was on the upcoming award ceremony. Maximum attendance is expected.
June 26: EDUARDO TO BE AWARDED HONORARY GRADUATE! Details can be found here.
June 25: Wizardry History class held. Veneficus gave a short Lecture on the origins of the Dark wizards. Unfortunately only two wizards were in attendance. A transcript of the class may be found in the library for all those who missed the class.
June 23: Alumnus and Former Dean of Srad Viriane returns to the Acadamie and is granted the honorarium of 'Professor'.
June 8: General Meeting minutes posted. Shota officially advanced to the rank of Adept, and the offices of Scribe and chaplain were officially appointed. Shota was awarded the Martyr Emeritus for her contributions to the Acadamie. The proposed changes to the by-laws concerning rank structure and rank requirements have been passed and will be implemented. The By-Laws and Registry have been partially updated to reflect the changes in the Acadamie structure. Four new Dean positions have been created. Dean of Admissions, Dean of Instruction, Dean of Students and Dean of Events. Alumni Seara has re-joined the Acadamie and several new wizards were officially accepted into the Acadamie. Welcome Ociro, Pyrios, Baltaszar, and Murdo. And the elemental Chaos event has been updated as well.
May 28: Wizardry History class held. Veneficus gave an interesting discourse on Logan, the wizards Guide in the temple of choosing. Wizards in attendance: Sigmar, Orico, Sealla, Nukku. A transcript of the class may be found here.
May 23: General Meeting minutes posted. Dean Sigmar officially appointed to Chancellor. Dean Khay awarded Luathas Seal. Srad Scholar Johnyblaze has been advanced to the rank of Graduate. Eldritch apprentice Tyara advanced to Scholar. A new event has been posted: Elemental Chaos. Tentative details can be found under the site map.

And the 'Why of Wizardry' has been added to the philosophy section. The registry has been updated and overall site maintenance has been done. I, Shota, have been appointed Acadamie Scribe by Veneficus. Also, Eldritch Graduate, Dedded has officially passed on. His presence will be missed by all. On a brighter note, Alumnist Jacktherip has returned to the Acadamie with the intent of joining the Eldritch college.
April 16: THREE NEW WORKS IN THE LIBRARY!!! An engaging and insightful work from Shota entitled "The Principles of Wizardry", an excellent new work from Kydilias (nonmember). A concise and well written lore on the art of Rededication and Mastering and finally "The Arcane Scrolls" a philosophical treatise of the esoterics of wizardry compiled and edited by Chancellor Sigmar. Welcome back to a returning Alumnist, Scientific, who is I might add an personal comrade in arms and friend of mine.
April 6: Faculty Meeting held, meeting minutes e-mailed to all members. All pending advancement recommendations approved. The award of Honorary Graduate was approved to be bestowed upon Seara. After a brief discussion, a mark of exile in abstentia (as he has to all discernable view left the Acadamie) was levied against ChibiGoten for his previous acts of insubordination, and disruptive conduct unbecoming an acadamie member. A discussion regarding Acadamie restructuring was held and tabled pending a special session at which faculty members will present their proposals. JohnyBlaze discussed event proposals and will develop an event proposal to be presented to the Regent for review and presented at a General Meeting. Shota discussed a trend of developing darkness and a possible threat toTemuair theorizing the possible return of Lord Tenes of the Anaman Pact. Regent Nagisa reiterated Logan's ancient geas and pointed out its correlation with any event that would threaten Temuair as a whole and the Acadamie's responsibility therein. The Arcanus Adeptus directed that Shota be given time at the next General Meeting to present her findings and voice her concerns.
March 30: Adept Khay has been nominated to be the new Eldritch Dean, I will be accepting votes from the Eldritch Branch per the by-laws regarding his appointment until 5 April 2002. Chaplain Ragadast has retired and departed the motley with honor and has been entered upon the scrolls of honor, we wish him well in his future endeavors. Although not yet of the Priests path Mosrael is hereby appointed as the new Acadamie Chaplain pending his sub-pathing to Priest. At present I am accepting applications for the following faculty positions: Scribe, Deacon, Dean of Athar, Dean of Sal. I am continuing work on the Arcane Compendium, many thanks to Adept Khay for his numerous contributions on this most difficult of grimoires.
March 28: Sigmar has been appointed as the new Chancellor, the new Deacon will be Mosrael
March 27: Returned from a long
hiatus, the following faculty positions are open for
applications, please review the requirements of office in
the by-laws
Scribe
Deacon
Chancellor
Dean of Athar
Dean of Sal
March 20: Made official proclamation of Professor Nagisa's appointment as Regent.
February 23: Scorched Earth Gambit III went pretty well, it could have used more participants but all in all it was a good event. Thanks to all who participated or observed. The results are as follows: Champion of Scorched Earth - Scholar ChibiGoten, Avatar of Scorched Earth - Graduate JohnyBlaze, Paragon of Scorched Earth - Scribe SSjBroley.
February 17: Orientation was a success, congratulations to our new Srad Adept, Froyden Widsith for her admirable performance under some truly grueling examination. I have updated the registry and scrolls of honor with the updates from the recent Faculty and General Assembly meetings. I am most pleased to announce that as of the last faculty meeting, as ratified at the General Assembly, Dylann will soon be sub-pathing to monk and becoming our first Captain of the Bloodguard. Some will note that the meeting minutes have not been posted, this is due to some internal issues that need to be resolved.
February 8: I, Veneficus Adeptus have resumed my former position as Arcanus Adeptus. Splack will be revert tot he Eldritch College as an Adept with full honors of a retiring Arcanus Adeptus, i.e. the privilege of utilizing the surname of "Adeptus" in perpetuity. He has also been inducted into the order of the Martyr Emeritus for his efforts as Arcanus Adeptus and for keeping us going during my time in Kadath. General Meeting held, transcripts have been mailed to all Acadamie members. Following the general assembly there was some slight unpleasantry from one of our members. A disciplinary council hearing will be scheduled to decide what course of action will be taken.
February 2: The faculty meeting
today was cancelled due to lack of attendance, Dean
Sigmar was the only other faculty member to make an
appearance, and he was early as is his habit. I salute
him. Cuillen also came by, thanks to her as well. Sad, we
had some interesting items on the Agenda and some
important developments to discuss amongst the faculty, I
hope we shall have better attendance at the General
Assembly next double moon +HINT+. This Deoch I will be a
bit relaxed on the attendance requirements stated in the
by-laws since I have been so disorganized until now, but
beginning next Deoch ((March)) attendance requirements
will be enforced. Faculty that is found negligent will
have their position rescinded and revert to general
membership, general members who routinely fail to appear
at required meetings will be reviewed for expulsion from
the Acadamie. If you truly care about the Acadamie and
enjoy being a member, please participate, get involved
and help me make it fun and advantageous for you all.
Veneficus Adeptus, Regent, Acadamie Arcanus
January 27: Next Deoch's Calendar published. Congratulations to Kamiomi for her Folk Art recognition.
January 26: I have exiled two
"ghost members" in the recent past, one was
Searra (not Seara who is the real one) and Micki. Both
have, despite a personal letter from me...refused to send
their registry information, both have also been known to
be less than courteous with faculty members, myself
included.
Veneficus Adeptus, Regent, Acadamie Arcanus
December 8, 2001: Here's
the preliminary planning for Scorched Earth Gambit.
I had planned on conducting it this Deoch ((but
with the holidays)) I don't see that happening. We
will DEFINITELY hold it next Deoch. As discussed at
the last general assembly, 'twill be an event open to all
wizards of Temuair, of course I will be adding into the
rules that the use of any skills or secrets not gleaned
from the wizard's path will result in
disqualification. At present I will leave the
prizes as they are presently listed, if anyone has
something they feel more suitable please pidgeon
me. I would greatly like the following positions
filled:
Rescue Party Dispatch: (preferably by the Chaplain
or Deacon)
Event Cashier:
Event Registrar: (to take names of attendees in
advance)
Overall Event Organizer: That'd be me
Rescue party members: we need warriors, monks with
whitebat or rogues. The
rescue parties will be necessary in the case of a
participant skulling and no reds are available
((so the participant can log and the rescue party
can get to them)) or in the event of a death to
aid in retrieving a death pile.
If ye be unfamiliar with the Scorched Earth Gambit, 'tis
one of our most enjoyable and fascinating events, see the
information on the ledgers from the last scorched earth
((go to the website into the site map, there's a link
there)).
October 7, 2001: General Meeting was held, see Meeting Minutes for details. Congratulations to Khay on his commencement to the rank of Eldritch Graduate and Kamiomi for her commencement to the rank of Eldritch Adept. A hearty congratulations also go out to Ragadast on his appointment as Acadamie Chaplain.

February 6, 2001: All Hail the new appointee to the position of Regent, Thorsson. Please aid him in any way possible and all members are reminded that the Regent carries my full authority in my absence.
January 4, 2001: STAFF
REORGANIZATION:
Consolidation of the following Staff Offices: APPROVED-
Sgt at Arms duties consolidated under the Regent
APPROVED- Librarian duties would be assumed by the Scribe
Abolishment of the following faculty positions: APPROVED-
Professor of Research STRUCK DOWN- Assistant deans
PROCEDURAL REFORMS:
TABLED-General meetings would no longer be scheduled on a
regular basis but would be held "as needed"
APPROVED-Any faculty member would be empowered not only
to address disciplinary issues as they feel necessary.
APPROVED-Any faculty member would be empowered to call
for a disciplinary council to be held. APPROVED-Enactment
of more frequent social occasions and motley functions
such as: "aisling Auctions", "wizzy
Sumo", "Throw Vene in the Pit".
APPROVED-Each Dean shall be responsible for the conduct
of one lore class per Deoch, not necessarily as
instructor, but as coordinator. APPROVED-Resurrection of
the neglected "Scorched Earth Gambit" and
"Luathas Challenge".
CONCERNS RAISED:
-unavailability of faculty, particularly Deans, many
prospective applicants are experiencing difficulty
contacting the deans in order to be properly screened for
admittance. -Lack of strong leadership, Arcanus Adeptus
assumes a large portion of responsibility for this as
many compromises have been made by him in the past and a
lack of enforcement of the by-laws by Arcanus Adeptus
leading to present difficulties of nonattendance and a
departure from the vision and focus of the Acadamie.
December 8: Per the decision several moons ago, any member who switches from the wizards path must retire from the Acadamie, Pill did not do so. He asked to remain for a time to find a new motley to join, I think two double moons is more than enough. Therefore upon my authority as Arcanus Adeptus I performed an exile. Since Pill did not abide by the Acadamie's decision honorably and in my opinion acted unethically by trying to extend his stay by stalling, he shall be entered unto the scrolls of shame instead of the alumni rolls. I did not undertake this action lightly, I asked the Sergeant At Arms to speak with Pill regarding this matter some time ago, yet it seems to no avail.
November 28: The voting deadline
has passed and all the results have been tallied.
The issue was shall members who began path switching
before the official announcement of the Acadamie policy
was issued. of the votes received The results are as
follows:
Stay IN Motley
Retire Honorably
Abstain from voting
31%
54%
15%
As all can see it was somewhat of a close vote but the
general membership has spoken, those members who have
path switched will be honorably retired from the Acadamie
to the Alumni rolls. It should be noted that this
is NOT exile. Additionally as per the Acadamie
by-laws, Alumni are welcome at meetings and Acadamie
functions. Those individuals who have switched from
the path of wizardy need to contact a faculty member who
presently holds a council seat to retire from the motley.
November 20: General Meeting Held, Daistlen appointed as new librarian, path switching debate held in open forum. Current Acadamie policy will continue but votes will be taken as to if we shall allow those who began the process prior to the policies official announcement will be allowed to remain. Voting is open, send all votes to Arcanus Adeptus before next Monday.
November 14: After consultation with the available faculty, some deep soul searching and examining the process of dual path from reliable sources...It has been determined that "dual path" does indeed very clearly involve abandoning your previous path. ((it purportedly even asks "do you abandon ______")) and after switching paths you are no longer identified on the world list nor in the aisling window as your previous path. Therefore we have no choice but to determine that a wizard who "dual path's" is no longer a wizard and must be honorably retired from the ranks of the Acadamie if they switch to another path. Likewise if an aisling of another path becomes a wizard, they are in all good sooth a wizard and therefore qualified to be screened for admittance to the Acadamie. I know this will disappoint some of you and perhaps cause us to lose some valued members...but we must remain true to the charter of the Acadamie which CANNOT be changed. Our focus and vision must remain pure. Veneficus Adeptus Arcanus Adeptus Acadamie Arcanus
November 10: Congratulations to Raen for her recognition as an Aisling Philosopher and to Veneficus for his recognition as an Aisling Historian.
October 5:
Preliminary discussion of "dual-path" was held
at the recent faculty meeting...at present the Acadamie's
stance on this is inconclusive, but from the discussion
there will be several dilemma's brought about both by
other paths switching to wizard and more importantly
Acadamie members switching to paths other than
wizardry....at this point all I can do is caution
Acadamie members contemplating this to wait for a short
while until the faculty can confer in more detail to come
to a decision on our policy in this regards.
Veneficus Adeptus
Arcanus Adeptus
October 1: Please see the Library for a new work recently translated from the ancient Acadamie texts with commentary by the Arcanus Adeptus entitles As the land bleeds.
September 25: Next Deoch's Calendar is published.
September 9: This Deoch's basic wizardry class will be replaced with an Acadamie Orientation Night, the regularly scheduled orientation night has also been rescheduled for 26 September 2000...please see the Calendar for Details.
September 9: I
have a sense of foreboding about the below letter I
received from the mundanes. These new secrets may
cause many a hapless wizard to repeat the errors which
didst cause the shadow wars and the eventual downfall of
the Ancient Acadamie. Know that at present I am NOT
speaking out against the study of this
"necromancy" I merely urge caution. We
must speak more of this to discern its true origins and
how we wish to proceed in study of this "new"
knowledge.
Veneficus Adeptus
Arcanus Adeptus
COPY OF MUNDANE LETTER
Necromancy
A Mundane, who wishes to remain nameless for his own
safety, admitted this moon that several long lost Wizard
spells were found. The Mundane calls it
"necromancy", the ability to use the demonic
power of Sgrios to your advantage. It is unsaid what this
power can do. But one thing is for sure - this power can
be devastating to those it is used against, making it
highly secretive as to ensure it does not fall into the
wrong hands.
Rumor speculates that this type of sorcery has the power
to raise the dead, and control that undead creature to
the caster's advantage. However, this is not certain. No
one will know what this forgotten power can do until the
Mundanes offer this knowledge to Aislings.
The Mundane I spoke with says the power behind this
"necromancy" is great, and very hard to
control. He himself cannot control it as of yet. By
channeling Sgrios' power through himself, he states
"it has the ability to drive one mad through the
dark visions that flash through your mind."
September 7: Congratulations to Dean Tigerhawk for his mundane recognition as Folk Artist and to Scribe Viriane for her recognition as Aisling Artist. WELL DONE!!!!!

June 19: Professor Valek will be stepping down as Dean of Srad and Adept Kornsage will be emplaced as the new Dean within this double moon. I thank Valek endlessly for his work as the Dean of Srad, especially during the early days...his council and recruitment efforts have been invaluable and to those who have not met him personally....He is an aisling of incomparable dignity and composure who it is my great honor to call friend. If you see him, thank him for his service as dean. It is my great honor to announce that he will remain with us in the appropriate srad ranking...and my further pleasure to confer upon him the title of Professor of Srad in perpetuity.
June 18: The official results of the Scorched Earth Gambit are as follows: Apprentice winner: Hero Darktreader/ Scholar Winner: Champion JadeAkaino/Graduate Winner: Avatar Ragadast.....note- the original victor of the graduates was Gandalf who kindly agreed to make another run to allow a compatriot to compete. His generosity and selflessness are truly to be emulated. The next scorched earth gambit will have a few changes. (1) 6 Personica will also be allowed (lesson learned) (2) it will be open to wizards not of the Acadamie to encourage more participation and increase the fun. (3) there may be a small entrance fee to reimburse the Acadamie for the expenditures in prizes.

May 25: Congratulations to our Regent Larsius for his mundane recognition as Folk Lorekeeper. On a more unfortunate note the following individuals have not responded to my previous requests for explanation of their absence, I have made every possible attempt to give them opportunity to do so.... therefore in accordance with the by-laws of the Acadamie and my previous postings, by my authority as Arcanus Adeptus these members will be exiled for nonattendance. This is truly a difficult decision for me but I have been left no choice in this matter. In the future removal of Faculty will be handled per the provisions dictated in the by-laws, general members will be expected to notify their Dean if they will be unable to attend and the Dean may excuse them. I will in the future remove general members for nonattendance at the request of their Dean. These present exiles will take place when the individual is available or will be handled by my contacting the mundanes.
Exiled Members: Andrus Ariadane Kyrelsis Lamech Rast Was
Once again this is a most distasteful and sad task for me to undertake but it is my belief that it is in the best interest of the Acadamie
