To begin with, we had purchased our tickets the day that they went on sale at all Ticketron outlets. We were the first in line to buy...what!?! Nosebleed tickets in the highest tier of the Civic Center, which were the "best seats available". Well, we bought three tickets (at a cost of about $100 for all three) because we actually believed the guy when the computer listed these as the "best" of what was left! Boy, were we ever wrong!
We had also reserved a room for the night at the Sheraton which is connected right to the Civic Center, because the next day was the first day of school. We figured that Michelle would get a good night's rest then off! to school in the morning! (Wearing her Albertane Tour shirt, of course!)
On with the pre-concert story. On the morning of the concert, as we were getting ready to leave, Mom (Alayna) hops on the internet and was able to purchase 3 more tickets (another 100 bucks) for lower section 104, row F which were soooooo much better!
We arrived at the Sheraton and Civic Center at approximately 12:30 in the afternoon and checked into our room. We went down to the Civic Center doors to check out the crowds that were forming. Crowds of girls continued to gather throughout the afternoon with colorful signs and banners and singing "Man From Milwaukee" and "MmmBop!", of course. We hung out at the "will call" window waiting for it to open so we could pick up our much better selection of tickets. While standing in line, Alayna met some members of AFH and agreed to meet up with them again after the concert.
We did our fair share of hanging around the civic center doors and we did get to hear some of the sound check, but once everyone knew what was happening, the screaming started up and that was that!
Finally, the moment arrived to enter the Civic Center. We entered from the top tier and were directed down, down and yet down some more, until finally we were seated just about 6 rows above the floor on Ike's side. The look on Michelle's face was priceless as she realized just how close we were! Why, we were close enough to feel the ending spray of Zac's super soaker! So close that we could check out what was going on backstage with our binoculars! We even saw Zac kick over his water bottle while he was drumming and he laughed and played as one of the crew belly-crawled over with a towel to mop it up! Not to worry..the guy was laughing just as hard as Zac while trying to keep a "low" profile.
But, we're getting a little bit ahead here. Admiral Twin came on first and what a show they put on! They are a really great band. We already had their CD, "Unlucky" and we bopped and sang to all their songs. Some of their songs have a Celtic influence and it really gives them an individual sound. We'd pay to see them again in a heartbeat!
After AT was done, the stage crew came out in their orange jumpsuits and proceeded to set up the instruments and stage for Hanson! We got out our binoculars and had an excellent view of the behind the scenes action through a split in the curtain.
Soon the beginning sounds of "Gimme Some Lovin" were heard and the curtain dropped and there they were! HANSON!! Bigger than life! Right there in front of us!! We can't remember the order of the songs (since we're just now writing this up) but we can remember just how great it felt to be there hearing all of our favorites live! Of course we swooned at Isaac and "More Than Anything". And don't forget "River". And "Everlonely" just blew us away! The whole thing was excellent. Not only were we entertained with great tunes, we loved seeing the guys acting up! Taylor on the drums!! Isaac and his jumps and slides!! Uh-oh..Zac and his supersoaker and glowing drumsticks!! Boy, he really enjoys that supersoaker part of the show, doesn't he! LOL I think we love them so much because when they are doing a show, they include the audience as if we wee all personal friends and neighbors just having a good time together!
Well, after that concert we vowed to start saving our money so that we could attend at least three shows on the next tour! We're happy to say that our "Hanson Tour Fund" has grown to $1,000. We've beeen putting money away every week without fail because we're really serious about seeing the guys perform again. They're absolutely awesome!!
The End....or shall we say..TO BE CONTINUED.......
