EMERGENCY CARD A MUST You would never leave a simmering pot of food on the stove when you go out of the house for a few hours, what if you were delayed for some reason?
Although few people fear that tragedy is ready to strike at any second, it is necessary to use common sense and not take unnecessary chances in our daily lives. Yet many of us take a risk with our pets every day. If you are a single person, a pet may be your best friend or at the very least a valued companion. Prevent your pet from serious trouble by carrying a card in your wallet stating that you own a pet. Keep the card with your other important identification and indicate that there is an animal at home that needs care if anything happens to you. You should include the name of a friend or relative with a key to your home that should be notified to take care of the pet or pets in your absence. Even if you are hospitalized and relatives are notified of your condition they may not have access to your home or even know that an animal is living with you. By the time you are well enough to inquire about your pet, the animal might be starving, in distress . . . or already dead. Please cut this card out and keep with your identification.
