Model: Bicycle

Modeller: Alan Covel, Solihull, Birmingham, UK

Notes: This is a full-size model. The frame is comprised of built-up box section Girders 1.5" square, to represent the tubes, and the wheel spokes and rims, which take a standard bicycle tyre, are of 12.5" strips.  The chain is a realistic reproduction of the original, made from large numbers of 1.5" Narrow Strips lock-nutted together.  There a number of beautiful touches - the rear sprocket teeth are Flat Trunnions, there are ball bearings in the steering frame, 1" Motor Tyres represent the handlebar grips, and 3.5" Rack Strips are used in the "Rat Trap" pedals. Withe the exception of the rear axle and the brake cable it is built of entirely standard parts.

Unfortunately it could not be ridden, because crucial parts such as the pedals would not have stood the strain.
