AMERICAN OCEANS CAMPAIGN
The American Oceans Campaign (AOC) is a non profit organization created to help protect our oceans.
AOC
was founded by Ted Danson of the "Cheers" T.V. show fame. The American Oceans
Campaign believes that the earth's environment is dependent upon our willingness to
protect and preserve marine ecosystems. AOC is using all of it's resources to protect the
vitality of America's and the world's coastal water, estuaries, bays wetlands, and deep
oceans. AOC has stated that "the quality of our nations water supply and runoff
determines everything about health and purity of our oceans, wetlands and other habitats
that eventually become receiving bodies of these sources. It also determines the future of
marine mammals and other living creatures." "The United States has already lost
over half of it's original wetlands." The earth itself, "is losing species at
the rate of 140 per day." "In 1992, U.S. ocean and bay beaches were closed, or
advisories were issued against swimming on more than 2,600 occasions in the coastal states
that monitor beach water quality. There has been over 7,700 closings since 1988."
BOB THE FISH shares in these same concerns. As you can see the awareness is crucial to our livelihood not only for us as humans but for the fish that live there also.
