The sun and moon are both in conjunction to the north node. Both of these indicate the need to seek activities with others and form bonds which foster growth. If we are to make the transition into a soul-based planetary culture, we will naturally find ourselves being drawn to those circumstances and people who nourish this. This echoes the theme of the Leo north node in the 9th house, which means taking a stand for one’s soul, leaving or changing limiting circumstances or relationships, and moving towards that which nourishes awakening. It’s already happening in corporations, in small towns, in support groups—even in cyberspace chat rooms and in e-mail relationships that span the planet.

Let’s attempt to summarize what the nodal positions tell us about the karmic conditions we must face, and how we might transform, transcend, and thus evolve with greatest ease into the new cycle. It seems that we are asked to face the karmic consequences of our individual and collective sleep in the ego-identified state, which is mirrored to us by the discordant, diseased and dying state of our world—morally, socially, politically/governmentally, economically, and ecologically. This requires us to wake up and stand free from the collective unconscious identification and all its beliefs and paradigms, which are causing us to charge over the cliff of natural and spiritual law into the sea of destruction and death. We must look at the signs and omens of the time as they are reflected by the trends in all areas of planetary culture and the ecosystem. We are asked to face what prophecy and ancient wisdom tells us about the death and rebirth that the cycles dictate. These signs become the basis by which we can end our denial and consecrate our existence to surrendering to the process and committing our personal will to evolving as quickly as we can. Most importantly, we are asked to find our true Self, and to follow the totally unique and individuated path of our soul. It is time when the soul of Gaia and humanity must break free to express and manifest its will and purpose. Let the soul manifest!

The other planets in the grand cross also aspect the moon’s nodes and tell us more about the karmic issues. When other planets are in inharmonious aspects to the nodes, there are challenges to making the shifts. The other three planets on the grand cross—Saturn, Mars, and Uranus—all are in aspects of conflict or polarization with the nodes. The effect of this is often getting stuck in the "working out" of these energies—like the cat chasing its tail—thus forgetting the impulse to evolve. This requires both a transcendence and inclusion at a higher level of these energies (trans-inclusion). Again, this means elevating the conscious integration of these planetary energies from the lower ego-personality octave to the higher octave of the soul and beyond.
