There are many signs on the horizon, the state of the environment being one of the most pressing. The environment is moving from the "serious" to the "critical" list. Most First World cultures, ours at the forefront, are showing the same signs of imminent fall that all great civilizations did—the debasing of the monetary system, moral degradation, addiction, excess materialism, self-serving and dishonest leadership, and imperialism. Inadequate supplies of agriculture products, petroleum and other key resources are either present or loom immediately on the horizon. On a macro scale, we are at the end of the Kali Yuga, spiritually one of the darkest epochs. At the end of the cycle of Yugas, per the Hindu Vedas, the planet goes through a major cleansing prior to birthing a new cycle. It is also the spring equinox in the precessional cycle and the end of entire precessional cycle. These cycles also foretell periods of massive purification and cleansing of the planet. There are numerous prophecies from many cultures predicting the end of the world as we have known it. The handwriting is on the wall as there are many signs on the horizon. We can deny all of this, or take the advice of the Sabian symbol, look at the signs, and prepare ourselves for the natural outcomes that are to come. The symbol for 14 Aquarius tells us we can make a commitment to embrace the opportunity of dealing with the past karma. "A Train Entering A Tunnel." "The ability to short-cut the process of natural evolution by the exercise of will, mental skill, and physical self—discipline. It implies the possibility of shortening the length of time needed for progress by cutting through the obstacles and delays. The keyword is Penetration." This tells us that the task at hand is to face what is ahead and to organize ourselves to deal with it. The number one task is to re-orient our lives toward the spirit/soul. This means a profound change in what we value and a commitment as a species to walk the spiritual path—to spend as much time in yoga, meditation, reading and taking in activities which nourish the soul as we have in front of the TV and at the mall. It might behoove us to face the fact that our materialistic excess and imbalance in the masculine polarity is over. This requires facing our addiction to consume, which is based upon our fear and avoidance of the pain of confronting the massive hole within us, where our soul essence is designed to be. We are asked to make the journey inward, even while we orient our external lives to a new ashram/monastery sort of existence that is not austere, but instead is totally nourishing to the soul and which embraces our spirit and the sensuality of our human selves.
