So what is a digital image?
The name could mean the way the image was captured, using a
digital camera or camcorder. It could mean an image that was
captured with a conventional camera on negative or
transparency film, then scanned into a digital format and
modified using software. And it could mean a print which is
scanned and then altered using software. And that's not the
end. The final product might be printed directly from your
computer, or the image on disk might be sent to a print shop
to be processed into a negative, and printed conventionally.
The methodology that's right for you depends much on what
you intend to do with the image and how you choose to
present it.
