It was Friday night and to Kel and Jen that meant it was keroke night. The were at the keroke club every Friday night. They both loved singing and performing in front of others. They were actually pretty good, too. A few people came every Friday night just so they could hear them sing. What did they call themselves, you may be asking. They were none other then the Backstreet Babes. Of course they named themselves after their biggest role models, The Backstreet Boys.
Kel and Jen were in the back behind the stage preparing for the show. "So what song do you wanna do tonight, Kel?"
"I dunno. You know I am always wanting to do a BSB song."
"So why don't we do Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)?"
"Seriously? I mean your up for a little BSB?"
"Yeah, why wouldn' I be?"
"Normally you always want to sign some Celine Dion or Tatyana Ali or something to girl singers."
"Well, I happen to be in a very BSB mood tonight."
"Cool, Jen. Then Quit Playing Games it is."
The guy who ran the karoke club, Jackson, came into the room. "You have three minutes till show time girls. There is quite a crowd out there tonight. Did you invite some extra friends or something?"
"No, it least I didn't. Did you Jen?"
"Not me either."
"Oh well, the more the better. Good luck girls and remember have fun out there."
Jen and Kel were soon announced to the stage. The got up on the stage and looked at all the people. It really was packed in here tonight. They figured that all the other hott spots to hang on Friday nights must be closed for some reason or something.
Jen went up to the mic and began to announce themselves. "How's everyone doing tonight?" The crowd yelled good. "That's great because me and Kel are doing good too. We want to start off karoke night with Kel's favorite song, a song by are idols, a song none other then, Quit Playing Games With My Heart!"
Soon the music kicked on and Kel took the song away. "Even in my heart I see your not being true to me deep withing my soul, I feel, nothin's like it use to be, sometimes I wish I could........"
There was a man in the audience that had requested whoever was in charge to come to his table. Jackson went to his table thinking he was in for a major scream fest directed towards him. He was so wrong. "Sir, Is there something you needed to speak with me about?"
"Yes," The man said. "These girls you have up on stage, I like them."
Jackson gave a sigh of relief. "Yeah they are something allright. They bring in my Friday night audience."
"I heard about them from my niece who comes here a lot. She says she thinks that your girls could be the next Spice Girls."
Jackson sat down. "Are you saying you think they are good enough to make it?"
"That's what I said. They have talent. Of course, we would have to add a few to the duet and make it into a group. I would like to meet with them after they finish this song."
"No problem, sir."
"Please, just call me Lou Perlman."
Jackson recognized that name. Lou Perlman was the founder of the Backstreet Boys and now he wanted the Backstreet Babes.
The girls finished there song and gave a thanks and said they would be back later for a few more songs.
Jackson led Lou Perlman back to where the girls were. "Kel, Jen, someone here wants to talk with you."
"Bring him on......" Kel stopped her sentence. She recognized the man that was standing behind Jackson. "Mr. Perlman, oh gosh, what a surprise."
"I take it you know of me, miss."
"Know of you? Of course I do. Please call me Kel and that's Jen."
"Hi." Jen said as shocked as Kel was to see him staning there.
"Girls the reason I am here tonight is because I heard about you two and I have a feeling. I want you girls to come down to Orlando with me and start up a contract. A contract for you and three other members to form a band."
Kel fell down on the floor. Jackson went running down to her. "Kel are you okay?"
"Jackson, tell me one thing. Did he just say band in Orlando?"
"Yeah he did."
Kel jumped up off the floor and hugged Jackson and Jen and Lou. "This is SO great! I have to call everyone. Oh my gosh!!!!! Im going to Orlando!"
It hit Jen what Lou had said too. "Singing, in front of thousands of people. Gosh that is gonna be so great." A tear fell down from her cheek. "Thanks so much Lou."
The next day Kel, Jen, and Jackson flew out to Orlando. There first stop was Lou's office at Transcon. They were all so pumped.
The found their way up to his office and knocked on the door. He waved them on to come in. "Sit, sit." He pointed over to another seat" That young lady over there is Jadey. I think she can be one of the additions to your group. Why don't you three sing something in harmony right now and get the feel of it."
"Ahh..sure." Kel said. "Jadey, is there any song that you want to sing in particular?"
"Well, I heard you are the Backstreet Babes, so I take it you know the BSB songs. So why don't we sing I'll Never Break Your Heart?"
"Sure, most defineitely."
"Great for me too. Why don't you start it off Jadey and then we will join in with you?"
"Ok." Jadey cleared her throat and began the song. "From the first day that I saw your similing face I knew that we would be together forever........"
Jen joined in the song now. "Oh and I asked you out, you said no, but I found out......"
Kel joined in. "....that you'd been hurt, thought you'd never love again......" They finished the song and the look on Lou's face was great. They all knew that they had found the third member to their group.
The question of who the other two group members were going to be was still unanswered. They all racked their brains trying to think of someone they knew that could sing. Finally it hit Kel. Her old friend from South Dakota, Sheila, could sing. She thought it was worth it to give her a call.
Sheila was more then shocked to get a phonecall
from Kel. As soon as Kel told her the news, Sheila dropped the phone and
began to pack her bags for Orlando, Florida.
