At the Bombsite

Mulder picks a very bad time to be contrary and stubborn. Perhaps he should wait until he's clear from the bomb before acting up.

Mulder:  Did you find anything?

Scully:  [irritated] No I haven't.

Mulder:  What's wrong?

Scully:  Well, I just climbed up 12 floors, I'm hot, I'm thirsty and to be honest, I'm wondering what I'm doing up here.

Mulder:  You're looking for a bomb.

Scully:  Yes, I know that, but the threat was called in to the federal building across the street.

Well I have to admit that is an interesting way to go about looking for a bomb.  Mulder has to be the luckiest Punk on the planet, finding a bomb while looking in the wrong building mere seconds after it had been planted.  (It couldn't have been there long since the guy posing as the soda delivery dude walked out of the room just as Mulder was walking in.)

General Punkesque Behavior

Refusing to admit that Scully had him:  She had him.  Why can't he be a man and admit it?  Sheesh!

Littering:  As usual when eating sunflower seeds he leaves the husks on the floor.  Then when trolling for change, all the things he had in his pocket which he deemed unnecessary went tumbling to the floor.

What part of "get out" did Mulder not understand?  Personally, if someone tells me to get out of a building with a live bomb in it, I'm out of there.  Especially if I didn't have bomb defusing experience.  I certainly wouldn't be there telling the person in question telling them how many minutes they have left to find out.

Telling SAC Michaud that he had 4 minutes to find out if he could defuse the bomb:  Defusing a bomb is stressful enough did he really need Mulder's backseat quarterbacking to add to it?  Besides, I'm sure the man has mastered counting I think he could have seen that for himself.

Apparently, Mulder has lost his mind, otherwise how would one explain his attempt to reenter a building with an explosive device seconds away from detonation?

"Next time you're buying."  I'm sure it was a joke but I wouldn't put it past Mulder to be serious when he said it.  He has to be the cheapest man on the planet.

Unprofessional Behavior

Insubordination:  Far be it for me to be overly picky in light of the fact that so many lives had been saved as a result but the orders were to search the other building.  (Frankly after two years I still haven't figured that one out.  I go into slightly more detail in my deconstruction click here to check it out.)
