As usual Mulder charms local law enforcement by insulting their intelligence and being generally condenscending.

Mulder:  Well, there must be evidence of an intruder of some kind.

Detective Waltos:  Uh, Agent Mulder, I've been on the job for eighteen years.  I know the drill.

Mulder:  Well, then, if you know the drill, then you should be canvassing hotel employees, housekeeping...

Detective Waltos:  I appreciate that he's a colleague of yours, but I want you to understand something.  He's also a suspect.

That's Mulder.  Instead of at least trying to be somewhat ingratiating when pumping the man for information he condescends and tells people how to do their job as though the person in question were completely incompetent.  It's a wonder that more local constabularies haven't told him off.

General Punkesque Behavior

Typical Mulder tact or lack thereof:  He bursts onto an investigation uninvited and then insults the investigating officer by telling him how to investigate things any competent investigator already knows.

I can't help but laugh at Mulder telling Agent Bonnecaze about invasion of privacy.  This from a man who routinely pockets items from people's houses during investigations.

How many times has Scully sat and listened to one of Mulder's tirades or long-winded speeches without copping an attitude?  Would it hurt for Mulder to try to do the same?

Well if it ain't the pot calling the kettle black.  Mulder has the nerve to ask Scully if she's sure she saw what she saw.  Between Mulder and Scully it's Mulder who has the reputation of seeing things.  Can we say "Miracle Man?"

Unprofessional Behavior

Not showing up for the meeting:  It's bad form to be late for a hearing even if it's not one being held to investigate you.
