Requiem

Mulder doesn't help things by making sarcastic remarks to Detective Miles' inability to find what is right under his nose.

Mulder:  I think I'm in big trouble.

Scully:  Oh, Mulder, how many times have they tried to shut us down?

Mulder:  Yeah, but I never actually assaulted an auditor before.

[Scully stares at him in surprise]

Scully:  Did you hurt him?

Mulder:  I reduced his vision a little bit.

Oh that's just what Mulder needed.  He's trying to justify the continued existence of his division and he goes and decks an auditor.  Very smooth!

General Punkesque Behavior

"We could start sharing rooms."  Yeah I think that will go over real well Mulder.  This is not the time for jokes.  Not that the inappropriateness of the time ever stopped Mulder before but really he's under fire and he antagonizes the bureaucrat by cracking jokes?  Not smooth!

Surely Mulder remembered how uncooperative Detective Miles was the first time he and Scully went to Bellefleur, Oregon.  Did he really think that that "nothing's all you seem to find out here" comment would help?

Why does Mulder do these things?  He knows Scully isn't going to go anywhere why does he think Scully would up and leave because he told her to?

There he goes again. Mulder gets out of the car and walks away with no explanation whatsoever.

Not going to let Scully go?  Does Scully get a say in whether or not she is going anywhere?

You know Mulder's abduction is his own damn fault.  Okay, so he's out in the woods with Skinner.  He knows that someone disappeared in the very spot where he's searching.  He sees something odd.  So what does he do?  Does he call for Skinner before probing?  No of course not!  That would be the responsible thing to do which is not the Mulder way of doing things.

Unprofessional Behavior

Playing with the baseball bat in the office:  That's a great way to impress the bosses, get busted playing around in the office on company time.

Criminal Activity

Assault and Battery:  Not only was it criminal but it was a dumb move professionally. Hitting the auditor is always a good way to get the guy to be on your side.

Attempted battery:  Once again Krycek is his target.  Thankfully Skinner was there to hold him back.
