To
Overcome the Grief of Breaking Up
Breaking
up with someone is difficult -- very difficult. There is grief when a relationship fails.
To help you with this grieving process, try the following spell.
When
the moon is full, write your problem three times on a gray candle; gray is a neutralizing
color. Because you must write your problem three times, you must learn to be brief; for
example, write only "divorce" or "lover left" or "broke up".
Find a private place outdoors where you can speak with the moon directly. Hold your gray
candle and tell the moon how you feel. You could begin by saying: "Grandmother Moon,
my heart is breaking; grief is with me as a constant companion." Then tell her your
story.
Pause
and take three deep breaths. With each breath, focus on how that breath connects you to
life. Now tell the moon how you would like things to change, but relate the story as if
the situation has already changed. Say something like: "Grief has left me, and I have
found the time in my life to respect myself and those around me. You have enabled me to
lift up my head and to feel my heart lighten. I am now able to move ahead with my
life." Keep talking until you really believe what you are saying. First, you will be
trying to believe what you are saying, what you are hoping. Then, your heart will want to
break from the grief it's feeling. Finally, you will know that what you're saying is true.
You will be free of your grief.
Do
this for the three nights of the full moon. Grandmother Moon will listen and help you
during this difficult time. Be realistic in your requests, and be patient. It does take
time to overcome the grief caused by a relationship that has ended.
